Yesterday's Sew Day~~

...didn't quite go as planned, but I did get a lot of cutting done!  I'd almost forgotten about my sourdough starter in the refrigerator, so had to divide and start mixing on that before I could go near my machine. (Today I had to knead in more flour and it is now ready for the oven. Yum!  We just love fresh sourdough bread!!! ) Then I got to my machine, but decided I would rather have all the 'logs' cut and ready to go, instead of sewing to a strip and cutting apart. My strips were only 21 inches and I decided I could make the best use of them by cutting. (Carrie has that all figured out for you in the book, but I had to test it! lol)

Logs cut..

Then I sewed on the HST part using Triangulations.  Next month I will be all ready to sit and sew! Whoohoo! :-) The day ended before I got much more done. :-/

HST's~ I've got them all cut apart since this photo :-)

In other news~ the painters left about an hour ago. :-)) Double whoohoo!! :-)  I am so happy to have my house painted and the doors done! I will take a photo for you this weekend of my cottage. :-)  So the painting is done~ and you know what that means?!  It's giveaway time!  I have 4 more vintage sheet FQ's or these two wool patterns. Which would you like to win? Let me know and your name will go in that hat. :-)  I will draw on Sunday.

I am so sorry for the glare! Around the pumpkin and the squirrel there are autumn leaves.
Thanks so much for your wonderful comments, following me, and the inspiration you give me!  :-)

Have a happy day!

Tomorrow~~

~~is Thimbleberries Sew Day!  :-) Won't you join Barb and I in sewing something fun? You can use a Thimbleberries pattern or fabric~ and be sure to let us know you are sewing so we can visit! :-)

I am going to be working on my 'Double Duty' blocks from the Miss Rosie's Spice of Life Quilts book.  I wonder how many blocks I can get made if I get some good sew time in? :-)

And our painters haven't finished up our house yet... Thursday is looking promising though. I haven't forgotten about having a little giveaway when they are done and gone, so come back later this week to see. ;-)

Until tomorrow~
Have a good evening!!

~The Best Therapy~

While running errands today I stopped at a new-to-me thrift shop and found these two sheets!  The one on the right is going to be the back to my Simple Things vintage sheet quilt I showed you yesterday. :-)  Whoohoo! I see quilting in my future! ;-)

When I got home I had this wonderful squishy in the mailbox~ the red and white 5 inch squares from Karen's swap. I love the variety!!  Thanks so much Karen, for hosting!

I hope you are having a great day too!
Until next time~
Happy stitchin'!!

Summer Sewing~

I have had my block for the Birdie Stitches BOM done for weeks, but I never remembered to take the photo!  I just love these birdie blocks!  I am using my vintage sheet stash around them. In this one, I used a metallic thread for one of the star bursts, it didn't photograph very well, but is kinda cute. ;-)

And I have my top together for the Simple Things Quilt Along that Kelly and Carol hosted~ thanks gals! It was fun! Again, I used my vintage sheet stash and added in a few bright fabrics for the stars. It is supposed to have another border on it, but I think I like it as is~ how about you?  I think I will use a sheet on the back too. :-)
I don't have a floor big enough to see it all :-)

a quarter so you can see the border~
Are you having fun summer sewing?
Next week is our Thimbleberries Sew Day!  I'll be back before then. LOL ;-)

Have a happy day!

Whoops!

It's been nearly a week since my last post! :-o  I don't know where the days went~ seems like they just flew by!!  We are still dealing with painters and contractors. Ugh.  What should have been simple jobs, turn into complicated matters.  :-/  And the weather hasn't been particularly cooperative either.  It was 55ยบ this morning!  But I will take cool days over the heat the rest of the country is suffering any day!  The painting will get done eventually~ they want to get paid right? :-) And I love the cool days!  Perfect for quilting. ;-)

I've had my machine working too! :-)  I recently came across a blog (and sorry, I don't remember who!) asking if we had quilts in our kitchens... good question!  Do you?  I have placemats, table runners, and even a couple hot pads~ but no quilt! :-o  I took the Le Petite project for this month~ 'George' by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co~ to rectify that oversight! :-))  My George is smaller than the pattern, but I needed it to fit in my kitchen. ;-) I had a couple fat quarters of the fabrics, so I went with what I had.  It was fun trying to make it all work!  :-) And I am very happy to have a kitchen quilt! Do you think it needs another border? I only have scraps left of the FQ's~ maybe enough for a strippy border... ?

I also worked on Step One of the Crafty Unicorn Quilts Summer Scrap Basket mystery quilt along.  96 HST's.  I love using Triangulations to get those babies whipped out! Fast and precise. :-)

Today I will be sewing my Simple Things Quilt Along top together, so come back soon! I promise I'll be back before the week is out! ;-)

Have a happy day!

Luck and Gratitude

I had a really lucky June!  And I've been pinching myself!  First Darlene at Quilting Daze had a wonderful anniversary party and I went home with this lovely treat!~ Well, ok, she mailed it to me. But I won! I love it! :-) I've been 'testing' it all over the house and driving DH crazy. :-)  I don't have any walls in the cottage to hang it there (cabinets, shelves, design wall, windows), and besides, I want it in the house~ where I can see it every day! :-) Thank you Darlene!  :-)

Then Kelly announced the end of the Charming Girls Club and the winners of her last drawing~ yup, you guessed it~ I was one of the lucky winners! Kelly was giving a gift certificate to her shop, Cotton Charm Quilts. I asked her to surprise me because I adore everything in her shop. lol  And look what she sent~ this fantastic placemat pattern and 2 gorgeous charm packs! Perfect! :-)  Thank you Kelly!  :-)

Ok, then I was struck by lightning! No, not really. ;-)  I was drawn from Sherrie's parade of Le Petite projects to receive a package from Carrie from Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.~~ and wow! :-o  Not one, but two Layer Cakes arrived in the mail!! :-))  Thank you so much Carrie!  And Sinta for sending them. ;-)

I was sooo excited by all the fantastic mail that I had to settle myself down and do some sewing. :-) It calms me~ does it do that to you?  I finished up Step 2 in the Quiltmaker mystery by Debbie Caffrey.

And speaking of mysteries... Brenda found this one at The Crafty Unicorn, and I think I am up for it!  Would you like to join us?? :-))

That's all for today~
 Happy Stitchin'!!

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
