Fun Sewing~ part 2

Thank you for your wonderful comments on my bag. :-) I had a little problem with Yahoo and some of my replies to your comments bounced back to me... a glitch in the system?  I just wanted you to know I did appreciate each and every one of your comments! YOU are what keeps me blogging!  :-) And your friendships mean the world to me!

Now for the other pattern I tested~  :-)

Bexley Square is such a neat quilt. The pattern has both a boy version and a girl version, I did the girl version. It is jelly roll friendly, so I used a jelly roll I had from Eleanor Burns~ it was just the right florally, girly, romantic touch for me. :-)  And the periwinkles, pinks and coral colors are so fresh in real life.

I'm not sure why that photo turned, or why it is so dark. Must've been a rainy day. :-/

It is approx 72.5 x 88.5 inches.

I used a vintage sheet on the back and quilted it with an allover large swirly flower design.  I want to thank Amy at katicupcake for trusting me with her wonderful pattern! It was fun, easy and I just love my new quilt!

That's all for today~ I just finished quilting another top, so maybe I'll have photo's after the weekend. ;-)
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

~The Best Therapy~

While running errands today I stopped at a new-to-me thrift shop and found these two sheets!  The one on the right is going to be the back to my Simple Things vintage sheet quilt I showed you yesterday. :-)  Whoohoo! I see quilting in my future! ;-)

When I got home I had this wonderful squishy in the mailbox~ the red and white 5 inch squares from Karen's swap. I love the variety!!  Thanks so much Karen, for hosting!

I hope you are having a great day too!
Until next time~

Spring Sewing Party Day~

I'm here! But I think by not turning the computer on last night I may have missed the party. :-/ I was gone on a 'stash enhancement expedition' all day yesterday. :-) (thanks Carrie for that new name! but I am not going to spell it out on my blog) LOL :-)) To see all the great projects out in blogland, see the list of party-goers on Kelly's blog. ;-)

Today I hope to get a few rows on my Vintage Sheet Quilt. It is slow going as I am making the pattern up as I go along. Well, not the pattern exactly, but where I am adding the extra sashings. ;-) I couldn't figure out any easy way to do it other than measuring, measuring, measuring. :-) So off I go with my longest ruler and a bunch of fabric strips!

Hope y'all have a great day!

Here is my final post today~ Sorry Kelly, it was a comedy of errors for me today! :-)

Tomorrow will be another great day to sew! :-)))

Until then, happy stitching!

Score!

I'm doing the happy dance today! :-) I had a bunch of errands to do~ in the rain~ and at the end I thought I'd stop at the thrift store and see if they had any vintage sheets. The last few times I'd been (which were all before Christmas! ;-o ) there had been nothing, zip, zilch, so I wasn't very hopeful.... but since I was already in the neighborhood.... :-)

Ooh-la-la! I couldn't believe it!! Most of them are in great shape~ like new! :-))
They are all in the wash now and then I'll get a diamond off of each for the top I'm working on. :-)

Hope you are having a great day too!~ despite the weather! :-))

Until tomorrow~
Happy Stitching!

Design Wall Monday & the Rest of the Week!

Good morning! I sewed over the weekend! I am working on my Vintage Sheet top. I drew up the design in EQ and could not figure out how to make sashing without cornerstones~ yeah, there is a lot to EQ that still baffles me, but I do have fun! ;-) Sometimes knowing how you want to do something, and actually getting it to look that way are worlds apart! LOL Anyway~ I sewed, and sewed and have about a third of the top together. I plan to put in a few more of the pink polka dot and green dotted fabrics to give the top a little more color, a lot of my sheets are kind of plain, but I love them all! ;-) And I'm sorry the photo is a little dark~ I took it early this morning. ;-) To see more great projects and get loads of inspiration visit Judy L at Patchwork Times~ and while you are there, add your link too! :-)

This is going to be a busy week! Wednesday is Thimbleberries Sew Day and I am going to start another quilt top! :-o

Oh yes I am! I have loved this pattern from Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville since I first saw it. So I cut out bricks and strips for 4 patches to get started, but will be cutting a lot more in the coming weeks. :-) Join Barb and me if you love Thimbleberries too! You do not need to make a Thimbleberries pattern~ you can either use a pattern or Thimbleberries fabric and join us for a fun day of sewing!

And Saturday is the Charming Guys and Girls Spring Sewing Party! I plan to keep working on my vintage Sheet top! :-) Maybe I will get the next third done~ I hope, I hope! :-))

Yes indeedy~ a fun week of sewing ahead!
Until next time~

Busy~Busy

I love watching the Olympics and stitching. :-) I put the last stitches in this last night~ I can't decide if I want to turn it into a pillow or a wall hanging. Which would you choose?

The pattern is from Bird Brain Designs and is called 'Spring Garden Redwork - 126'. I turned off the flash to cut down on the glare~ its on Kona snow. ;-)

And I've been cutting~ I cut all my vintage sheet FQ's into 6.5 inch strips, and then into squares. Time to have some fun!

Hope you are having some fun this week too.

~Monday~Monday~

Do you ever feel like you need a weekend after your weekend? :-))

We had a really busy one here! DS had homecoming festivities all week ~ending with the big game Friday night and the dance Saturday night. Yep, he had a date and yes, Mom scrambled to get him properly attired for the dance!~ I can't believe a kid can grow so much in such a short time! Unfortunately, the photo's I got, I am not allowed to share. ;-) I'm pretty sure he had a good time~ I am hearing snippets of things as time passes. LOL DD also came home this weekend~ she was due in by mid-afternoon Friday but the weather played against her... traffic was a huge disaster and the buckets of rain coming down didn't help. She was lucky to make it before bedtime. :-o We had a great time catching up in between running hither & yon for all sorts of errands. I am one tired Mom today, but everyone is back where they belong and all went well. :-) ~It's a happy tired for me, I'll catch up eventually. ;-)

We did have a bit of time yesterday afternoon to play with sheets, so that is what is on my design wall today. :-) I'm hosting a FQ vintage sheet swap on the HGTV message boards and these are some of the beauties I have received so far. I am really excited to make a vintage sheet quilt. :-) (click pic for a closer peek)

Hop on over to Judy L's blog for more Design Wall Monday eye-candy. You will see some wonderful quilts and projects in-progress. :-) Until next time~

Happy Stitchin'!

Design Wall Monday~

Today's design wall is...

..the bed!! :-) That's right 'Autumn Waves' (formerly called Ocean Waves ;-) ) is finished! It was the binding to this quilt that you saw in my previous post. It sports plenty of quilt for a pillow tuck, I just took the pillows off for the photo's. ;-) I quilted it in an allover leaf panto in variegated green thread. I didn't want anything competing with the autumn fabrics in the blocks.

If you'd like to see what others are working on, check out Mr Linky on Judy L's blog.

In other news, I have been drooling over the Vintage Sheet quilts on Elizabeth, of 'Oh, Fransson!'s blog~ just look at this cutie~ and the Clothesline Quilt on the left.
And check out the quilt in her header! I just love them all! :-) I asked her permission to show you her Vintage Sheet quilts and she asked me to remind you that her sheet swap was over a year ago and she has no plans to have another. In my next post I'll show you some of the sheets I have collected. And I am having a sheet swap~ if you are interested leave a comment and I'll email you the specifics. ;-)

Have a happy day and until next time~

Whoops~

Hello everyone!
I missed Judy L's Design Wall Monday this week, but actually you would not have seen much! I am working on a mini for my friend Bingo~Bonnie and I can only show you this much~~
Isn't that funny!? You can do it to your photo's too ~ here So there is your peek Bonnie! :-)

I'm also getting back into working on my 30's 4 patches~ I cut a bunch of strips today. :-)

And finally~ I'm still vintage sheet crazy!! I found this one over the weekend. :-) I am going to host a FQ swap on the HGTV message boards, but if you aren't a member there, and would like to swap with us~ please let me know! :-)

That's all for now~ I need to go make that 'marble' into a mini!
Happy Stitchin'!!

Vintage Sheets?

While thrifting for striped shirts for my striped shirts project I wandered around to the sheets~ no, I wasn't yet aware of the danger. LOL :-)) One caught my eye so I bought it, then I came home and did a little research~ it seems lots of quilters collect vintage sheets! :-) I am just excited by all the vintage sheet quilts and projects in blogland! Here is the beginnings of my collection~ Do you collect? would anyone like to swap?

I must get back to my sewing~
Have a happy day and
Happy Stitchin'!

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
