September Schnibble Sewing~

Say that three times fast? :-) LOL
My September 'Winter White' Schnibble is finished! I was a bit worried about finishing in time, but put the final stitches in and washed her up yesterday. :-) Yay! I had some Lecien fabrics I was saving and decided that this little quilt would be perfect for them. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough so had to make the blocks a little bit smaller. ~ I worked it to use the most fabric I could and ended up with a 2.5 x 6 inch piece of the blue left. Whew! I'm sorry the colors aren't as bright as real life~ it was a gray day yesterday. :-/

I know many of y'all have been worrying about Barb from Bejeweled Quilts. When I saw the news about the tsunami yesterday I dashed her off an email, hoping she had power. I heard back from her! Yay! She said they are doing good. I was so relieved! I don't know anymore than that, and I'm sure she'll blog when she is able. It is such a relief just to get that email! Please join me in keeping her and her family in your T&P's.

Until next time~

~A Great Mail Day!~

I won a giveaway! Yes, I really did!! :-)) Pinch me! :-))

Sara at 'My Sewing Room' was giving away this wonderful kit 'just because'. :-) It is a Lori Smith pattern and I was smitten the moment I saw it! I cannot wait to get to work on it, but I am going to be disciplined (!) and finish up my 4 patches for the swap before I start. ;-) Ok, honestly~ I'll try to be disciplined. :-o

Thank you so much Sara!! :-)

Have a happy day and until next time~~

More Quilting Fun~

I also quilted 2 black, white & red quilts while I was using the HQ16. Close up's~

I used panto's for both and after all this quilting~ I can safely say, I learned a lot!! :-)

~Monday, Monday~

..And I have zip! zilch! nada! on my design wall floor! BUT~ that doesn't mean I haven't been busy!! :-)) I have a pile next to my sewing machine! At the top is 'Scnibbles'~ and I hope to show you that later this week. ;-) And right below it is~~ Judy L's 'Bears in the Forest'~~ awaiting binding! Yes~ it is quilted! :-)) I am working on the binding next.

Here it is sans binding~I don't think I have enough of the dark green left, so need to do a bit of shopping before I can sew it on. :-/

And the close up shows the design I used to quilt it. Kind of interlocking pine trees~ to go with 'Bears in the Forest'... get it? :-) LOL

Hop on over to Judy's blog now and take a peek at all the other wonderful inspiration on other quilter's design walls.

That's all from me today~ have a happy day and Happy Stitchin'!! :-))

Design Wall Monday~

Today's design wall is...

..the bed!! :-) That's right 'Autumn Waves' (formerly called Ocean Waves ;-) ) is finished! It was the binding to this quilt that you saw in my previous post. It sports plenty of quilt for a pillow tuck, I just took the pillows off for the photo's. ;-) I quilted it in an allover leaf panto in variegated green thread. I didn't want anything competing with the autumn fabrics in the blocks.

If you'd like to see what others are working on, check out Mr Linky on Judy L's blog.

In other news, I have been drooling over the Vintage Sheet quilts on Elizabeth, of 'Oh, Fransson!'s blog~ just look at this cutie~ and the Clothesline Quilt on the left.
And check out the quilt in her header! I just love them all! :-) I asked her permission to show you her Vintage Sheet quilts and she asked me to remind you that her sheet swap was over a year ago and she has no plans to have another. In my next post I'll show you some of the sheets I have collected. And I am having a sheet swap~ if you are interested leave a comment and I'll email you the specifics. ;-)

Have a happy day and until next time~

Cutting It Real Close~

Usually when I make a quilt, I alter it from the original directions. Then when it comes time to bind it~ I never guess right on how many strips to cut. Most often I am short and have to sew another on before I can finish getting the binding on. :-/ Sometimes I think, 'oh, I'll save myself the trouble of having to cut another' and I'll do it right away~ then I end up with enough binding to cover a quilt and a half! :-o This time was like hitting a hole in one!! :-))) Look at that~ Just snip off the selvage edges and perfect! :-)) I think this might be my lucky quilt!! ;-) Are you lucky with 'guesstimating' bindings??

Have a happy weekend and

I'm also getting back into working on my 30's 4 patches~ I cut a bunch of strips today. :-)

And finally~ I'm still vintage sheet crazy!! I found this one over the weekend. :-) I am going to host a FQ swap on the HGTV message boards, but if you aren't a member there, and would like to swap with us~ please let me know! :-)

That's all for now~ I need to go make that 'marble' into a mini!

Vintage Sheets?

While thrifting for striped shirts for my striped shirts project I wandered around to the sheets~ no, I wasn't yet aware of the danger. LOL :-)) One caught my eye so I bought it, then I came home and did a little research~ it seems lots of quilters collect vintage sheets! :-) I am just excited by all the vintage sheet quilts and projects in blogland! Here is the beginnings of my collection~ Do you collect? would anyone like to swap?

I must get back to my sewing~
Have a happy day and

Flying Days!~

...and it isn't even windy!! ;-)) Time is just zipping by a little too fast for me lately, but hopefully I can do a little catching up this weekend. :-)

I finished swapping and mailing out my latest swap~ whoohoo! ~10.5 inch squares of autumn & batik fabrics. I had the tables laden with autumn beauties one day, and gorgeous batiks on another. I'm lucky I have so many tables! LOL

Next I will get back to my projects. I've got blocks to make! ;-)) And a Schnibble to work on! And blogs to visit! :-))

Have a great weekend and until next time~

A Year of Schnibbles

Yesterday the fun began! Sherri & Sinta have started a fun little yearlong group. I'll let you read about it on their blogs. The patterns for the year are the cute little Schnibbles from Miss Rosie's Quilt Company. Each month they'll choose one for us to work on. I am so excited to join in the fun! I have the pattern~ I got just a bit ahead of myself and shopped for them over the weekend. :-o Luckily I found the first one!! ~is that a good sign or what?! :-)) Now I just need to decide which fabrics to use! :-o 'Sew' many choices! LOL :-))

Have a happy day and

A Day of 'Sewing'?

Well, not for me and this is why~
My DD, who owns her own machine and knows how to sew! decided to make a tote for a friend of hers. She's talked about this tote all summer. Today she finally decided to sew and this is how it went~

'Mom, I'm going to use your machine'
'No, I'm sewing on mine, set up one of the others'

(Yes we own a few more than one sewing machine~ we bought her a couple oldies but goodies for her to learn on when she was younger.) She decided to use my older Pfaff and that is where she set it up!!! Smack in the center of my cutting mat! :-o Do you think she got my attention?
:-))

Yes it stayed there until she finished her project. And what, you ask, did I accomplish?
Well lets just say I should've let her use my machine. :-/

And so this post is for all my friends who have young children underfoot and are dreaming of the day when they get older and you will have time to sew~~ don't hold your breath on that one!! :-)) LOL

All kidding aside, we did have a fun afternoon. ;-) But I can't show you the finished tote~ she took off with it already!! ;-)

Until next time~

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
