O's!

I am slowly making headway on Cobble Stones~ whoohoo! I am having as much fun with the cut off HST's though~ This is a shot of trimming them up. I am lucky, I can use my rotary cutter in either hand. So I lined up a bunch of them and trimmed both sides. Look at that pile of 'match sticks'! Trimming all those HST's took a while. ;-)) Do you see the orange line on my ruler? I love this stuff! It is like tape, but with nothing sticky on it. The little dispenser with the different colors was given to me by a friend. I use it to mark the line on my ruler so I don't have to look at the measurements every time. I also use it on my sewing table when I am sewing down the centers of squares~ no marking, and it peels right off. It's just plastic. :-)

This is the pile of 'O' blocks and all the HST's ready to be sewn into pinwheels. I have a few O's left to make. I pressed until my iron ran out of water and then sewed. :-) Yes, I press with steam~ but I 'press', no ironing, pushing, sliding etc. I don't distort any seams and I like the little bit of steam. ;-) It works for me. :-)

Hope you are finding time to sew today too!
I'm going to go fill my iron and press these blocks and the few left to sew.
Until next time~

CGQC January Tag

Kelly has tagged the Charming Girls Quilt Club to tell how we display quilts. (check out her blog because her photo's are great!) I am not so imaginative in my quilt displays, but after looking at what others are doing~ I'm gathering ideas! ;-)

I have quilts on all the beds, the back of the couch, and table toppers and table runners on the tables. I only have one set of quilted placemats though, I need to work on that! ;-) I do have a few good spots for displaying a quilt. We live in an old house and this is the upstairs railing. It's fun to hang a quilt from the rail and see it every time I go up/down the stairs. :-)

I also have an adjustable curtain rod in the hall. I can hang small quilts, seasonal things, or multiple little quilts on it. I took this photo last fall, but you get the idea.

Sorry my photo's are kind of dark~ its a gloomy day. :-o
Be sure to check the list of quilters on Kelly's blog and see how everyone else decorates. You will be inspired too! :-)

Until next time~

Design Wall Monday

I'm trimming off the HST's for my Fig Tree Club 'Cobble Stones' blocks. It takes a while to do all the trimming, but is going to be worth it when I have all those little HST's to play with! My friend gave me the Eleanor Burns ruler for my birthday and it will make short work of trimming the cut-off's to a consistent size. :-) It's going to be a struggle to put those cuties aside and finish the Cobble Stones blocks! LOL ;-)

I've also picked my project for the Valentine's Sewing Party that Kelly & Joan are having this Saturday. I purchased these strips last year when a friend organized a 'buy-in'. We bought yardage of the fabrics in the line and she cut them into 5 inch strips~ I should have plenty for sweet little Schnibbles 'Madeline'. :-)

Check out all the fabulous projects quilters are working on today by visiting Judy L's blog! :-)

Until next time~

My Quiltathon Weekend~

Even though I feel like I accomplished a lot~ it doesn't look like much. LOL Oh well, the sewing was fun!

First I got my 3 blocks together for 'Piece & Goodwill' (Nov/Dec issue of Quiltmaker magazine) that Shannon and I are working on. It was a lot harder than I thought because you need 8 light greens/block! :-o And for some reason, my stash is very light on light greens. :-) A few friends have volunteered to help me out with some scraps, so I will work more on these next month. ;-)

Then I moved to my Fig Tree Club 'Cobble Stones' kit. I decided I wanted to save all those little HST's on the corners, so it is taking me 3 times longer than it would if I would just follow the directions. :-) I'm sewing extra seams, so when I cut them off, I'll have lots of fun little HST's. :-) I'm thinking a mini in the making. :-) But it is slow-going right now. Last night I drew lines to follow thinking that might speed up sewing on them. ;-) I'll let you know how it goes. :-)

Now hop over to Judy L's little Mr Linky and be inspired by the works of quilters all over blogland! :-)

Until next time~

It's Christmas Again!~

Remember I told you I needed to get some Christmas blocks finished for an exchange I was doing with my friend? Well look what came in the mail today!! :-)) My blocks from her! I love them! She told me she fell in love with them too and is making a set for herself~ I can see why! :-) You will be seeing more of these as I figure out a layout for them. ;-)

And these are the blocks I sent to her. We had a good chuckle over the fact that we both chose star blocks! LOL :-) Now why did this photo get flipped to the side? :-/

I'm sorry both photo's are a bit dark~ it is a dark and rainy day at my house. At least, outside... inside it is sunny!! :-)) LOL Today I am getting ready for tomorrow's Quiltathon. :-) Hope you find some time to sew this weekend too!
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

Valentine Sewing Party

And if you can't sew this weekend~ next Saturday, January 23rd, Kelly & Joan are having a Valentine Sewing Party. :-) Do you have a Valentine project you'd like to make? What a great time to do it! I'm going to have to do a bit of thinking and I'll get back to you on my project. ;-)

Have a great weekend~

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
