Whew! Finally Finished!

The Vintage Schnibbles pattern for this month is 'Clover' by Carrie of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.  I didn't think I would ever get done! LOL  It's not that the pattern is difficult~ it isn't. Not one bit.  But, it is time consuming and it seemed the more I sewed, the less I felt I was accomplishing. Part of that is my fault~ I didn't have 2 charm packs. I had one charm pack and a bunch of 2.5 inch strips left from another project. So maybe I had to do a bit more cutting that those who had charm packs... or maybe not, since I left the strips at 2.5" and cut my charm pack to have finished 2 inch squares too. (my quilt will end up just a little bigger than everyone else's, but I look at that as a bonus!) ;-)   Anyway~ here she is!~~

I used Grand Finale by Sandy Gervais for Moda, and then the strips were from different lines, but I think they all worked together.  We finally had a sunny day, so I enlisted hubby's help, although the breeze seemed to pick up at just the wrong time. LOL

I haven't trimmed it down around the edges yet~ I will do that after I get 'er quilted... and she has to wait in line. ;-)

Be sure to visit Sinta and Sherri for the parades the beginning of the month. I'm sure looking forward to seeing who met the challenge this month! LOL

Thanks for stopping by~
Until next time,
Happy Quilting!

A Week!?

Ok, who is flipping the calendar when I'm not looking!? I don't think a week has passed since my last post, I think someone is tricking me! ;-)

Well, it has been a busy week. :-) LOL  First up, the Vintage Schnibble project for this month~
When Sinta and Sherri announced it would be Lincoln from 'Another Bite of Schnibbles' by Carrie Nelson, I thought it sounded familiar~ and not because I have paged through the book so many times that I now have loose pages. :-)  I went to my 'waiting-to-be-quilted' stash and yes! Indeed I had made this Scnibble in wall hanging size in the past.

I decided it really wouldn't be playing fair to just show that one to y'all. :-D  So I pulled out all my patriotic scraps~ and believe me, some were really small! You can't see where I did some creative piecing. ;-) And made the larger size 'Lincoln'~

I chose not to add any border so it would be like the smaller one. It measures 63.5 inches square~ the perfect size for the back of our love seat.  ;-) Not sure when I will get it quilted, but surely before next July! :-o

I just took this off the machine on Monday. It is quilt #3 for my Mom. We both made this quilt top from kits I had purchased from JoAnn's some years ago (on clearance~ I love a sale!). I pieced mine on my treadle (and it is on that waiting-to-be-quilted shelf)  :-/  As soon as I get all my Mom's quilts finished, I plan to get busy with that shelf! LOL

Hope you are finding lots of time for sewing and quilting this summer!
Until next time~

June Vintage Schnibbles

The pattern for the Vintage Schnibble this month is Dulcinea.  It is a very sweet double pinwheel quilt and Carrie (of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.) has some really clever tips for making the blocks consistent~ they join together like a dream!

I used a couple charm packs from Connecting Threads for my version.  These are from an older line and the charms from CT don't always have 40 charms/pack. They are packaged as one charm of each print in the line~ so sometimes you have 20, somethings 17 etc. With the charms I had, I needed to make a little smaller version of Dulcinea, but I do love how it turned out!  I used a FQ to make my borders, which was just perfect as that was all I had of coordinating fabric. :-o LOL

Be sure to check out Sherri and Sinta's blogs on Monday for the parade.  I've seen a few popping up in blogland and I can say it is going to be a wonderful parade!

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
