Friday!

Happy Friday!
This is my DD's quilt (well, half of it, it's laid across my bed). ;-) She started it when she was 9 years old. The pink/white 9 patch blocks are from a pre-cut kit that she spotted at a neighbor's yard sale and talked the lady down to the amount of change she had with her (that's my girl!) ;-) She got an old clunker of a sewing machine that summer from my Dad (he found it on a yard sale). It made a very nice straight stitch and she went to work making shorts for herself. I guess she thought she graduated from shorts when she spied the kit! LOL :-)) She started sewing her 9 patch blocks, lost interest, pulled them out again the next summer and on and on until she was 14 and decided she had plenty of blocks. By then she was much more discerning in her piecing and took some out and re-did them and chose the best of the bunch for her quilt. Then she got into my small gingham stash. :-) She made the borders and pieced the entire top by herself. I had an embroidery machine that had a butterfly motif so she would tell me where she wanted the butterfly and her thread choices and would head off to school. When she came home she bee-lined up to see her quilt. :-) Once she had all the butterflies she wanted, we sent it off to our longarm quilter. We picked it up that summer and she went to work piecing and attaching her binding. She had her 15th birthday. Then she stalled~ hand sewing binding wasn't in her plan. LOL :-) My Mom came to her rescue and put in all but about a foot of stitches~ LOL when she picked it up again she just had a foot of binding to stitch down! :-)) She used it for a few years and now she keeps it at the foot of her bed. Lots of memories in this quilt as most of the gingham came from clothing scraps I made for her when she was smaller. ;-) The backing is pieced with both larger gingham scraps and butterfly fabric she found in my stash.

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great weekend!

Sew Day Update~

Whoohoo! What a great day to sew! ;-)) Ok, every day is a great day to sew~ ;-) ...but, it was a great day to sew on my Thimbleberries project. :-))

The pattern is Bricks and Stepping Stones from Bonnie Hunter. I decided to make mine bigger, so I'm in the process of making more blocks. I think 2, maybe 3 rows wider, and one longer. I haven't done the math yet, so I'm not really sure. ;-)
And can you believe, after all 60 of these blocks~ my stash has not shrunk one bit?! I still have a small tub that I can't get the lid on! That means~ lots more T-berries projects in my future! :-)

I hope you had a successful day too!

Until next time~
Happy stitchin'!

Thimbleberries Sew Day!

I love these sew days!~ I feel like I'm on 'vacation' from my regular days and can sew to my heart's content! ;-) Are you sewing too? Let me know so I can come over for a visit. :-)

This is last month's photo~ I hope to have lots of progress to show y'all in a few hours!
Let the fun begin!! :-)

Do You EQ?

I do! :-)
I have EQ6 and just love it! It is fun to just play around designing a quilt, changing colors, block sizes, border styles all with just a few clicks. I've even made a few of the quilts I designed. :-)) That was really fun! Although I think I have barely scratched the surface of all 6 can do, now The Electric Quilt Company is coming out with EQ7!!~ and it is loaded with new features, more blocks= more fun! I love their promo photo, because it is fun to dream of quilts!! :-))

Be sure to check it out!
Have a happy day!

Design Wall Monday~

Wow, the weekend went fast! And I've been missing for longer than I planned to be. :-o Sorry about that! With nice weather I find myself plant shopping. Which means getting planters ready, which means... well, you know how it goes! ;-) Playing in dirt! :-) LOL

I did manage to get my Fig Tree Club table runner partially cut out and near my machine. And I hope to work on the blocks later today. They are diamonds! Who knew when I was making the diamond quilt, I would be making a table runner next... at least I've had lots of practice with diamonds! LOL :-)
What are you playing with? Check out Judy L's Patchwork Times for lots of design wall inspiration!

And remember~ Wednesday is the next Thimbleberries Sew Day~ are you ready? I'll be pulling out the blocks I'm working on. I'm looking forward to sewing on it! ;-)

Today is the next block for the Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along too!

That's all for now~ plenty to keep me busy! ;-)
Have a great day!

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
