Time just doesn't stand still, does it? :-) I did finish some things while I was absent~
This is about my dozenth or more flannel/denim raggy quilt. The pattern I started with came from an old issue of Traditional Quilts magazine, but I have altered it a bit over the years. I don't have the magazine anymore, but the pattern is stuck in my head forever. LOL This is for a friend's DD for graduation. Aubrey loves brights, so I hope I hit the nail on the head. :-)
The front~
The back~
And I always embroider a square with the date. Her older brothers got the same quilts for their graduations and her Mom told me she has been hoping I would make one for her too. LOL
I also worked on some potholders for my Christmas Through the Year box~
First I made the green one using this tutorial~ Quilted Mitt Pot Holder
I put an extra layer of Warm and Natural in with the Insulated batting to give it a little more 'cush'. :-) Then I got to thinking about the denim pieces I had left from the quilt and thought the pocket would work great for a pot holder. So I came up with the other one.
Now I am thinking the denim one would also make a great Father's Day gift with some new tools for the grill... so that one may not make it until Christmas! LOL
Please go HERE to see some more wonderful CTTY projects and be inspired! ;-)
I hope you are finding time to sew too.
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Vintage Schnibbles~ Gentle Art
Thanks for playing along in my guessing game~ with the little peek I gave it would've been nearly impossible to guess, but y'all have given me some ideas for the next Vintage Schnibbles. ;-) I have been doing the Schnibbles sew-alongs for as long as Sinta and Sherri have been hosting them, so I'm trying to be more creative with the patterns now~ I have more wall hangings than wall space! LOL Or even season's in which to display them. ;-)
So this month I took my pattern and tried something different. I used Kati Cupcake's Got It Covered! pattern and with a few revisions to make it large enough to accommodate 3 inch blocks, I made myself a sewing machine cover. :-) I down sized the Gentle Art blocks, and then made 2 rows of seven to make the large pocket in the front of the cover. I made a couple of the small/medium covers as gifts last year, but never got around to making one for myself. I thought the spools would be perfect for my cover. :-)
Doesn't it look great on my red bench? LOL
Gentle Art is Carrie @ Miss Rosie's Quilt Co pattern from Spring 2007. I am really looking forward to the parades that Sinta and Sherri will host on June first to see all the ways others have used the pattern. I love spool blocks~ and how perfect for your sewing room! ;-) Make sure you stop by and see the parade!
Until next time~

Sewing Like... well, Crazy!
Yes I am! :-) I got so excited when they called this morning that my machine was ready that I forgot to get a photo of the 'little loaner'. :-) I did keep that machine humming.
I finished my string blocks for a swap. You can't tell by the photo, but the stack with the cool blue batiks is actually a triple stack as a number of participants wanted that combo. From L-R we have shabby chic blocks, B&W with a touch of yellow, the ocean blocks, autumn blocks and lastly, browns. They look a little darker than they are in 'real life'. ;-)
And then I got the Country Threads BOM blocks finished for this month~
Whoohoo! I am on a roll! :-)
Next up I need to get a raggy denim/flannel quilt together for a graduation gift, my Christmas Through the Year project and my Schnibbles project~ think I can get it all done? I'm hopeful! LOL

Busy, Busy
Do you feel like time is flying and you can't keep up? I do! I spend nice days outside getting my flower pots planted, and not so nice days inside doing household chores... where does sewing time fit in?!
All the pots are planted now, so I'm crossing my fingers that everything grows. Then I'll show you some photo's. ;-)
I had my embroidery machine in the shop for two weeks for routine maintenance and cleaning. I got it back last week~excited to get busy! I did a few headbands for a friend~
But when I went to wind my bobbin, it didn't work! Nothing. So it went back Monday and I begged for a loaner so I could get some things done. I'll have to get a photo of the loaner. It is such a cute little machine! ;-)
I did get my May HGTV BOM done,
It is called 'Creole Puzzle' and is from Quilters Cache.
And the April Kansas City Star block...
I love the red spools! :-)
And block 3 of Merry Merry Snowmen from Bunny Hill Designs. We are doing this one as a sew along on HGTV, and I am behind. ;-) I'm doing mine with wool applique and really like the blocks. I have buttons for the eyes, nose etc and will add those after it is all quilted.
And that catches you up with news from here. I hope you are finding some stitching time!
Happy Spring!

Fun Stuff...
I've been doing a little 'fun sewing' lately and now it is time to spill a few beans. :-) Jennie of Clover & Violet asked if I would test their new pattern~ the Stella bag....
It is marketed as a diaper bag~ but it is so much more! My 12.5 inch ruler fits in it nicely~ and so does my small cutting/pressing mat. :-) Do you see where I am going with this? LOL It is the perfect quilt bag! It has 6 outside pockets, and a few inside pockets~ one specifically for your cell phone. I like that! :-)
It would also make an awesome sport bag~ it would easily hold your tennis racket, shoes, towel, water bottle. Or how about a picnic bag? It could hold your quilt and accessories and you could have your food in the cooler.
I'm sure new Mom's would love this bag too~ lots of room for all baby's things! I well remember those days when it felt like you had to pack half the house to go on an overnight trip. The Stella bag will hold all the necessities. ;-)
The pattern is very well written, has good photo's to guide you and numbered steps. (I like that especially as I often get called away when I'm sewing and it helps me keep my place).
Here is my version~ done in all my Thimbleberries scraps. Since there are no wee ones in our house, it is my new take along bag for road trips... it holds all my stitching supplies, plus my wallet etc. And the sides cinch up nicely when I'm carrying less.
I went out in the sunshine to capture a side shot~
Thanks for stopping by! Now head over to Clover & Violet and see the bags the other testers made~ (say hi from me too!) I'm thinking I will need to make a few more! ;-) Be sure to look around if it is your first visit~ they recently posted a free lunch bag pattern and it is on my list. ;-) LOL

Another Year of Schnibbles; Vintage Schnibbles
This month Sinta and Sherri, our fearless leaders, chose a vintage Schnibble pattern for our project. Hat Trick by Carrie @ Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. I love the idea of using some vintage patterns! Maybe I will actually get to make some of the patterns I have collected. LOL
This month's feature is Hat Trick. What a fun pattern! I had a great time playing. ;-)
I made my Hat Trick mini. Well, maybe not mini, but smaller. I had these lovely scraps that I inherited from a fellow quilter and thought they would be perfect in this pattern. I'm not sure who the fabric designer is, but they were perfect! My Hat Trick measures 13.5 x 18.5 and fits my little side table like it was meant to be. :-)
Thank you to Carrie, Sherri and Sinta for the fun!
Be sure to visit Sinta and Sherri's blogs tomorrow for the parade. :-)
Until next time~
