Please Welcome~

~my Mom to the world of quilting bloggers! Yep she is 'one of us now'. :-)) Muah-ha-ha! **Giggle**

Over they years, my Mom and I have made a few quilts together. It is usually a long-distance sew-along since we don't live near each other. We swapped FQ's for this one~ (pattern by Debbie Caffrey, it was a 3 part mystery in a magazine).

And one year when she came to visit we had a table topper sewing marathon~ we made enough to cover my bed in that short visit. ;-) Fun! Fun!
So please stop in to visit her and say hi from me! :-)

Until next time~

A Trio..

... of mini's! I was digging around in my quilt cupboard (not a real cupboard but a closet) looking for my fall quilts and I found these! :-) They weren't really lost~ let me explain... When we move every quilt goes with me (yeah, DH doesn't like my moving strategy but I refuse to leave them to movers!), in our last move, I wrapped smaller things inside larger things. Well, you know, as you are settling in and unpacking, sometimes you know things are safe, but aren't quite sure where they ended up~? Does that make sense? That's what happened this time. I thought I'd packed them with some fabric and just hadn't come across them yet~ and there they were waiting in the quilt cupboard! :-)

The one on the left measures 8.5 x 10 inches. The center HST's are 5/8's of an inch. It was little cut off ears from a larger project. Do you save those or toss them? Sometimes I love to play with them! I can't believe it, but I actually hand quilted this one! Hmm, it must be at least 12-15 years old. Bad me, I didn't date it. :-/

The center one is a pattern from a book I had about 14 - 18 years ago. I don't know what happened to the book, so I can't tell you who wrote it. It was machine quilted and measures 11.25 x 13.25 inches. It is probably the first machine stippling I ever did. ;-)

And the last one I did 15 years ago. It is 9.25 x 9.25 inches. A friend and I each made one using a stencil that we traced onto a foundation and paper-pieced. My first try at paper-piecing. :-) It is also machine quilted.

I usually rotate these in my sewing room, but my current sewing room has so many windows that I am afraid they would fade so I need to find a new spot for them. :-)

Sometimes making a mini is just the thing to get your mojo restarted~ either that or as my mother tells me, I really am crazy! LOL :-))

Have a great afternoon and until next time~

A Great Giveaway!~

How about a Halloween treat? Skip on over to Pumpkin Patch Primitives to get in on the fun~ and good luck!! :-))

~Monday~Monday~

Do you ever feel like you need a weekend after your weekend? :-))

We had a really busy one here! DS had homecoming festivities all week ~ending with the big game Friday night and the dance Saturday night. Yep, he had a date and yes, Mom scrambled to get him properly attired for the dance!~ I can't believe a kid can grow so much in such a short time! Unfortunately, the photo's I got, I am not allowed to share. ;-) I'm pretty sure he had a good time~ I am hearing snippets of things as time passes. LOL DD also came home this weekend~ she was due in by mid-afternoon Friday but the weather played against her... traffic was a huge disaster and the buckets of rain coming down didn't help. She was lucky to make it before bedtime. :-o We had a great time catching up in between running hither & yon for all sorts of errands. I am one tired Mom today, but everyone is back where they belong and all went well. :-) ~It's a happy tired for me, I'll catch up eventually. ;-)

We did have a bit of time yesterday afternoon to play with sheets, so that is what is on my design wall today. :-) I'm hosting a FQ vintage sheet swap on the HGTV message boards and these are some of the beauties I have received so far. I am really excited to make a vintage sheet quilt. :-) (click pic for a closer peek)

Hop on over to Judy L's blog for more Design Wall Monday eye-candy. You will see some wonderful quilts and projects in-progress. :-) Until next time~

~I'm Still Here!

..and thinking about Christmas! ;-) Actually I made this little topper last year and never got it quilted. Now its quilted~ I sure hope it doesn't take another year to bind it!! :-o The pattern is Marcie's at Patchalot More. I loved it in 2007 when she offered it as a free pattern, and I still love it now! :-) Thanks Marcie! :-)

I've been sewing in bits and fits lately, but hope to get back into it soon. Unfortunately, I can't show you what is on my ironing board just yet... hopefully soon! ;-)

Have a happy day~

~Design Wall Monday~

Don't Mondays seem to show up awfully fast? Once again, it is time for Judy L. at Patchwork Times' design wall show-and-tell. I love seeing what other quilters in blogland are working on! If you have some free time, head over and view the links Judy has on her blog. :-))

As for me~ I am playing catch-up! I got a little behind in the BOM some of the ladies on the HGTV quilting message board are sponsoring, so I got myself caught up. :-) I'll have to take a photo of all the blocks so far, but here are the past 2 months. I'm doing my blocks in holiday fabrics in the hope that I'll have it all ready for next year. ;-)

Thank you to all who stopped by for the Bloggers Fall Quilt Festival! (see previous post) I am slowly making my way thru all the links on Park City Girl's blog and enjoying the show! :-)

Until next time~

Bloggers Quilt Festival

Have you heard about the Quilt Festival? Amy at Park City Girl has set it up~ and she has loads of links to quilting bloggers~ and lots of wonderful quilts to see! Grab your mug/cup/can and head over for the show! :-)

As for me~ I had such a time deciding what to enter! I chose 'Autumn Waves'. It is a recent finish and a favorite because my girlfriend who lives about 1800 miles away and I made this quilt together despite being so far apart. We chose the theme of ' autumn' and each of us made 44 pairs of blocks using our stashes and maybe a few additions. ;-) Then we swapped our duplicate blocks. I really enjoyed putting this quilt together because my blog readers chimed in when I showed different layouts, and different fabrics for the borders, so it was like quilters all over the world helped me to make my quilt! I met so many of y'all through the making of this quilt! It was fun! :-)) ...and I ended up with a great quilt full of memories. :-) Thanks everyone! :-)

Until next time~

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
