Jewel Box Blocks~

Good morning!~

I'm hosting a jewel box block swap in 30's fabrics (on the HGTV Quilting Forum) and finally finished my first set of 8. Once you get the prep work done~ making HST's and 4 patches~ it is a fun, easy block to put together. And I love how it looks in 30's! :-) Bingo~Bonnie calls the prepwork 'homework', so I am now doing my homework for the next set of 8. Using the Triangulations for HST's is sure a timesaver! :-)

I've also joined a swap for thimble blocks. We are using Sindy Rodenmayer's pattern from her site, FatCat Patterns. (with her permission, of course) ;-) They are done in orientals~ giving them a cloisonne` thimble sort of look. I did 2 this morning for a test~ I think this will make an adorable sewing room wall hanging! :-)

Hopefully, you can click on the photo's for a big larger view. ;-)

And I am coming up on 200 posts! :-)
Stay tuned~ I think there may be a giveaway involved! :-)) If you are one of my followers~ you will be automatically entered. ;-)

Have a great day and until next time~

What's on Your Design Wall?

Judy L. is hosting this question every Monday. It's fun to see what everyone is up to! ;-)

Last week Mary showed her Butterfly Blooms top (pattern from Cozy Quilts). I left her a comment saying I had one in my closet that needed borders too. ;-) I pulled it out to show her~ I started it the end of 07, then we moved; packing up, moving, living in a hotel, living in an apartment, moving into our house, kids graduating~ and before I knew how fast time was flying~ it is now the middle of 09!! :-o Now I've gotten it out and it will go on top of the pile of things to finish. :-) My 'design wall'~ using that term very loosely~ is my floor. LOL So it changes often! As you can see I got the first border on, and the second one cut out before it was packed up.

I might have actually gotten those other borders on, but I was distracted by all the little cut-off corners! :-o I made the mini out of them~ not so mini it measures 20 x 25 inches. It may end up with another black border, but first I need to finish the quilt top and cut the binding! ;-)

So what's on your design wall??? :-)

Until next time~

Stitchin'~

I finished the June Verandah Views (link in sidebar)~ Yes, I did the Kingfisher a bit different than hers, I wanted a side view to match all the other side views in the other blocks. ;-) Bonnie had asked to see a photo of all the blocks together since I am doing them all on one FQ. So here ya go~ :-) Just a few bare spots left! ;-) Do you want to see my 'backside' too? LOL :-)) Not! :-o

I am thinking about doing Bonnie Hunter's Christmas Lights Mystery that will be in the next 3 issues of Quiltmaker magazine. Bingo~Bonnie is already started! My excuse is that my new magazine has not arrived yet. ;-) LOL I think I'll go play in my stash today and pull some fabrics. ;-)

Have a great weekend and until next time~

An 'April' Finish~?

LOL, you read that right, I'm still livin' in April! :-)) I finally finished up the BunnyHill BOM for April. And now I see that I forgot to add a little bow to the chick, ~I'll do that before I put it away. ;-) I was going to get May's ready to work on, but I might as well wait until tomorrow and do both May and June's prepping at the same time! ;-) Sigh. I will get caught up one of these days!! :-))

Have a happy day and

Catching Up and Homework~

Yesterday I got the 2 blocks made for the BOM I am participating in. The hostesses chose the blocks, but they are all from Quilter'sCache. May's block was called 'Alaska Homestead' and June (on the right) is the 'Tennessee' block.~ it should be all scrappy, but in keeping with my Christmas theme, I made it in the same prints I've done the other blocks in, I'm not so sure if I like it or not, but I'll leave it until I see all the blocks together before I do any changing. ;-)

I also finished up the May Verandah Views block (link in sidebar).

And then I got down to my 'homework' as Bingo~Bonnie calls it. :-)) I like that term! It was making more HST's with the Triangulations papers. I made up a batch for our swap and a batch for the 30's Jewel Box blocks swap I am hosting on HGTV. Last night I finger-pressed them and took out the papers, so today I can sew! Hope you are finding time to sew a seam or two too! ;-)

Until next time~

What's on Your Design Wall?

Judy L is having a little fun today asking everyone to post what is on their design wall. Mine changes often since I don't have a wall, but a cloth on the floor! ;-) Today I finished up a dozen Ocean Waves blocks~ actually I made 24 because I am swapping half with a friend. We chose 'autumn colors' to tie our blocks together. I counted 3 times now and I can hardly believe it, but I have all 80 done! Yay! I have to send 40 to my friend, but I'll wait to see how far along she is before sending. ;-) I think I'd better go count again!... LOL :-))

Thank you for all your nice comments on the My Blue Heaven blocks! I printed off some more Triangulations today for the next batch. ;-)

Guess that's all for today~
Until next time~~~

Happy Stitchin'! :-)

June 1st~ already!

This year is going too fast for me! How about you?

To start the month, I'll tell you about a giveaway~ a really cute pattern by Dawn. Good luck!

If I get sewing today, I may have a photo for you later~ :-)
Have a happy day!

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
