Nose to the Needle!

Step 3 of Judy L's Bears in the Farmhouse Quilt-Along is due tomorrow, so today I sat myself down and kept my nose to the machine until I finished my blocks. :-) Whoohoo! I'm ready for the next step! I'm going to rename it 'Bears in the Forest'. ;-) The color is a little off in the photo~ there is no pink in this quilt! My DS would have a fit if there were. LOL What looks pink in the photo is actually a lighter orange fabric which he approved before I cut into it. ;-)

Finishing the Weekend Quiltathon~

I worked on the HST's for Judy L.'s 'Bears in the Farmhouse Quilt-Along' on Sunday and this morning I needed to finish pressing them up. A few still have their papers attached, but they will come out tonight while I'm in my easy chair. :-) I was all smug thinking, 'yay those HST's are finished!' Until I looked a little closer at the pattern~ one of the borders is all HST's too! :-o I have a real love/hate relationship with those little buggers! :-/ Love the look, hate all the squaring up... although with the Triangulations, there really isn't any squaring up to them, just paper rippin'.

Then I finished up a couple oriental lanterns for that swap~

Now I just need to do a few more of the paper-pieced blocks and the swap will be ready for mid-March. :-) If I do them tomorrow, then the rest of the week I can go back to finishing some of my table toppers! ;-)

A Quilt-Along~

Judy is doing a quilt along that is just the kick in the seat I need! :-) DS has been 'reminding' me that he needs a new quilt. The last one I made him has forest animals on it~ and he has way outgrown that! (according to him) :-) So when I showed him Judy's Bears in the Farmhouse, he said no~ too 'yellow'. LOL His favorite color has always been green, he was swayed by blue for a few years, but eventually green is still #1 for him. I shopped my stash and then found the stripe and light green fabrics while out this weekend. He likes it. He thinks the oranges have 'too many flowers' in them, but I assured him they'd be cut up. LOL He is a funny kid! After I took the photo of my fabrics, I found a light tan for background in my stash too, so now I am all set. :-) Today I'll get the fabrics all washed and ready. :-)

This is his other quilt. It was a Debbie Caffrey mystery a few years ago in Traditional Quiltworks magazine. The animals are in the border and on the back. I still like this quilt. :-) Do you see the theme in his color preferences? :-)
