C'mon In!

Thank you for all your well wishes for our new home! We are so excited! But before we move we have wall paper to remove and painting to do. Today we looked at paint chips~ so many choices! :-o I've never really lived somewhere where I could paint to my heart's content, usually we had to paint it back before we moved, so I just opted not to bother. Since this is our 'forever' home, I can add a little color! :-) And I'm nervous about that! :-o

When you step in the front door and look to your right, you are looking into the living room and dining area. This isn't our furniture, I took this photo when we were still house-shopping. The other shot is from the dining room back to the front door.

If you look up~ the stairs in front of you and on the left will take you up to a nice big storage room, a full bath and 2 bedrooms. Can't you see a quilt hanging from that rail? :-)

I also need to give a little shout out to Sandra of The Cumberland Island Quilt Chick. Sandra takes great photo's of her island home and shares them on her blog, as well as her quilts~ and she is working on a real fun one now! Stop over and say hi. ;-) She had a little fun a few weeks ago where she asked her readers to guess what she was working on. I had been looking at patterns only the day before, so I had a good idea of what she was up to! ;-) I was correct and she sent me some of her patriotic stash. Sandra, do you have any left?! :-)) I was tickled pink because my own stash had dwindled to nothing. I am looking for the perfect patriotic pattern now to make a little wall hanging for our entry~ the wall at the base of the stairs. Do you have any good ideas for me? Thanks Sandra!! :-) I also love the photo you used for your note card. :-)

That's all for now~
Hope you are having a great weekend! :-)

Sandie, First of all, I have to tell you that I feel an even closer connection to you since our short, but sweet, visit in Sisters happened.

I find myself smiling as you are sharing your lovely new home with us. I'm sitting here with my cup of morning coffee admiring your home.

Oh my, that staircase railing has SO SO SO many possibilities with quilts.

You have SO much space to work with - do you any kind of color palette in mind?

I can't wait to see how this house becomes your house!!! My house is very small and I can remember when we bought it we couldn't afford or had the time to do much to it. After 25 years when hubby retired we started on the outside and worked inward, and were lucky enough to be able to do it ourselves. I kind of miss that now. Take it slow and enjoy the process!

You really do have lots of possibilities! Can't wait to see what it turns into with your own special touches.

My first thought was a quilt hanging over the stair railings. It will be gorgeous and such fun times you will have.

Your house is just lovely!! I'm so happy for you. Keep posting pictures. As for painting the walls - my daughter (the artist) was over last night and she was saying about her new home that it is a bit scary to paint - but she's tired of those white wall. Have fun picking your colors. Oh here's her advise (which is what I did.) Pick something soothing for the livingroom and something fun for the kitchen, or in my case our bedroom.
