TODAY! .....

Is the last Wednesday in October! How did that happen?!  And you know what that means~~

It's Thimbleberries Sew Day!

Are you sewing?
I am going to work on my log cabin blocks and I'll be back with an update later~~

 Get those machines humming! :-)

Update~ I had a good day! only 28 more log cabin blocks to make next month and then I can start on the flying geese.  If you are new to my blog~ Thimbleberries Sew Day was started by Barb and I because we love Thimbleberries~ patterns, fabrics, its all good! :-) So each month we try to take a day and sew together. You are welcome to join us, and if you leave a comment we will come by and visit you. :-) I am working on Double Duty from Miss Rosie's Quilt Co book called 'Spice of Life Quilts'.  I'm using my Thimbleberries scraps along with others I've accumulated. LOL

Thanks for checking in on me!
Have a great evening!

...More Sewing...

I also finished lots of little things at my retreat. :-)  I made these little phone wallets for my DD and her friend from a Valorie Wells Sewing Card. I need to add some pearl snaps and they are finished.

I worked on this Pat-E-Pattern wallet too.

And two of Nancy Halvorsen's  'Count On It' mini quilts... I need to add the eyes and teeth to the bats and quilt them both yet.

And I still finished more! :-)

Hope you are getting lots of sewing done too~
Til next time,
Happy stitchin'!!

I'm Baaa-aaack!!!

And whew!~ what a weekend!  I had a blast at retreat and managed to get quite a few things finished, or close to finished. :-) I need to add a few borders, do some quilting etc, but all-in-all I am very happy with all I got done.

Mystery Quilt
I got my mystery quilt top together from Leslie at the Crafty Unicorn Quilting.  Next week, or is it this week? Well, one of these weeks, Leslie is going to show us border options.  I just love how it came together!

Piece and Goodwill

I've been working on blocks for 'Piece and Goodwill' (from Quiltmaker magazine Nov/Dec 09) off and on for a while. I finally got 36 blocks together. That is six more than the original pattern, and I am planning to make another row so it will be a bit longer.  Then I'll add the borders. ;-)

Thank you Cyndi!! :-)

I've got lots more to show you, but I wanted to show you my Santa Sack 2 gifts from Cyndi.
She sent an extra little gift and told me to 'open now'~ well, anyone who knows me knows you don't have to say that twice!! LOL Cyndi sent me an adorable bag!  I love it! It is for my birthday~ wasn't that the sweetest?! And speaking of sweet~ that little Halloween bag is full of them! Sweets, that is! I am going to have to do extra laps around the neighborhood. LOL

I'll be back soon!
Happy Stitchin'!!

Lots of Sewing...

...going on here, but little I can show you! :-(   And then I made a big boo-boo and slipped the blocks I made for a swap into their envelopes and sent them off without taking any photo's!  Sorry. :-/

I am going to be in three row robins next year~ I know! Crazy! But I volunteered to be in the second one because the group was short one person. The other two, I joined knowing full well what I was getting into~ I helped set them up. :-o  Next year the ladies on the HGTV quilter's forum are going to be meeting in Branson for a weekend of fun and quilty stuff. I'm on the committee. Some of us have met at past retreats, but many of us have never met. Just chatted in emails, on the phone, or through the message board. We do a lot of swapping and charity quilts and the ladies are all awesome.  So, back to the row robins~ we are going to do two different sizes- one that is lap size and one that is wall hanging size.  Everyone is working on their first rows now and then we will start mailing them to each other to put a row on each person in our group's top. We won't see our own again until next fall in Branson. Sounds fun doesn't it??  I finished my wall hanging row last week.

I don't have a Halloween quilt and I can hardly wait to see what the ladies will do for rows. :-)  When I get it back and after it is quilted, I plan to add green jewels for the eyes. ;-)  I plan to work on both of the lap size rows this week~ I'm headed off to a retreat! :-)) Whoohoo!  And while I'm gone, DH is going to have the computer looked at, so keep your fingers-crossed that he has it all back and set up by my return. ;-) I'll have plenty to show you next week! :-)

Until then~ happy stitching!!

I've Been Remiss~

...in posting and thanking Thearica from Pigtales and Quilts for honoring me with the Versatile Blogger Award. :-/  Things have been a bit crazy around here, but that is no excuse for a proper thank you!  I'm so sorry T!  Thearica is a friend from the HGTV quilters forum and we've both hosted many swaps there. She has a wonderful blog and I hope you will visit her soon. Thank you Thearica!  {{hugs}}

Along with this award, there are 4 little rules....

1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award.
2. Share seven things about yourself on the post.
3. Pass the award to fifteen bloggers that you think deserve it.
4. Lastly, contact all of the bloggers that you've picked for the award.

So seven things about me (I think this is why I procrastinated! LOL )

1.  I'm a farmer's daughter~  I grew up on a farm in the midwest.  I have a lot of great memories, but
my parents no longer live on the farm. They retired and moved to a wonderful little town (that has 2 quilt shops!) I love going home for visits. ;-)  LOL

2. One of my jobs was gathering and boxing the eggs... hated it! ;-)  One time I reached under the hen for the eggs and felt fur~~ there was a mink in the nest!  Yikes! :-o  (Now you get why I didn't like that job?)

3. I come by my blog blog name honestly~ I am crazy about quilts! :-)  The quilt bug bit me when our oldest
DS was born and I wanted to make him a quilt for his 'big boy' bed. I had brief intermissions as the kids were growing and we were moving around; but any chance I got~ I got right back to it.

4.  I used to basket weave and still have a box of reed, hoping one day I will make a few more baskets. ;-)

5. I love to embroider in the evenings. My maternal grandmother taught me to embroider and I stitched my first project to my pants leg!~ Oh what a sad moment when all those stitches had to be cut away from my jeans.

6. My paternal grandmother taught me to crochet and I made afghans until we didn't need another. LOL  She had immense patience with me since I was the only lefty in the family.

7. I've been married to my hubby for nearly 31 years and we've lived in lots of different places. It is so nice to be retired now and settled down. :-)

There are probably a million more things I can tell you, but my mind just goes blank at times like this! :-/

The next hard part~ 15 bloggers.... I follow way more than 15 blogs and love coming and visiting each of you!  I'm going to choose some that maybe you've never visited... I hope you go and say hi.

Thimbleberries Sew Day~ update

Thanks for the reminder Barb!  :-o  I nearly forgot that today is our sew-day!  Are you sewing?
I'll be working on more log cabin blocks~

Be back later~~

I'm baaa-aack! :-)  I got another 20 blocks completed.  There are 104 in the quilt, so I am a little over halfway there with the log cabins.  The pattern also has a bunch of flying geese, so I am cutting those out for the next sew day.  I hope y'all had some time to sew today too.  Until next time~

Happy stitchin'!!

Busy Work~

I finished stitching Gail Pan's 'Blessings to All' pattern a few days ago. Sorry, I should've maybe pressed it a bit before taking a pic. :-/  I need to get some wide rick rack before I can sew it into a little hanging. :-)

And then I've been working on a few block boards~ or mini design boards. You can find a tutorial on Lori Holt's blog.  Scroll down the side til you get to the 'tutorial' drawer. ;-) I made a few little ones for small blocks, but I also made some big ones for 12 inch blocks because I joined a fat eighth swap and need to make 17 blocks from different fabrics. Everyone sends a F8 of their chosen fabric to each swapper and we add from our stash to make them a block. I thought if I used these and cut out a few at a time, it would help keep me organized. ;-)  And the pretty fabrics are from the strips I won from Debi that I told you about a little while back. :-)  I love it when the universe works with me!! LOL  If you decide to make some, check out your dollar store for the foam board. ;-)  I found it at Dollar Tree.

That's all for today~
Until next time~

Happy Stitchin'!!

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
