Good Intentions~

I had the best of intentions when I thought I would blog more this year. :-o
Good thing I don't make resolutions!! LOL
A LOT has been going on around here and it just seemed that taking photos fell behind, and with no photos, I couldn't do any posts... well, they wouldn't be interesting! :-)

And just where did January go?!!  I had planned to take that month to re-organize my quilting and home.  Well, on the home front, it worked~ I got my DS to move shelves and hang things for me. :-)  But when you are busy doing one thing, the other has to wait and so my quilting has waited patiently.  Now I am back in the 'saddle' and ready to make things! :-)

The beginning of February I went on a little weekend retreat with friends.  It was rather a comedy of errors.  My friend and I, being the youngest retreaters, got the top of the town house (lots of stairs).  It was really nice, it had a small kitchenette, a little sitting area, little bathroom, and a fold out couch for the bed... well there was the problem.  My friend sat on the bottom of the 'bed' to take off her shoes and fell right in!! :-o  We mistakenly thought that maybe it was just the bottom, so we got in and thunk!  We both had the bar across our back and the mattress disappeared. Yikes!  We got out to look over this situation and discovered there were few springs holding the whole thing together.  By now it was late, so we decided to make the best of it and put the couch back together with its cushions and pushed the sitting area chairs and ottoman together to make a 'single' bed.  I got the chairs and she got the couch. In the morning the entire couch had sunk to the floor!! :-o  She was essentially sleeping in a box.. albeit she did say it was a comfortable box. LOL  The next night we had brand new roll-away beds set up. :-)

As for sewing, well the comedy of errors was evident there too~ I was going to work on a couple Bionic Gear Bags. Haha  I had carefully packed everything but the pattern piece I needed for the sides. Argh!!

Next I pulled out a bag I wanted to make~~ success!!

One warning if you happen to have this pattern- check the pages!
Luckily I had cut everything out and read through this one ahead of time and found that it was missing a page. :-o  I wrote to the designer and she emailed me the missing page.  :-)

I also got a cute Frozen pillowcase made for my DGD, but I forgot to take a photo before mailing it.  Hopefully she gets it in the mail today. :-)

And this little topper is a pattern from the Red Button Company. I changed it from a snowman topper to Valentine's.  I just need to finish up the binding and add some heart buttons-- it will be ready for tomorrow! Nothing like waiting until the last minute. ;-) LOL

As I finish my Gear Bags and a few other things I had along, I'll be back to show you.  It was a really fun weekend, the memories will have us laughing for years to come!

Have a happy weekend!

Sew Sweet Simplicity BOM & Hop

Hi! Welcome! :-)
I am posting a bit early because Eastern Standard Time is just a wee bit too early for me to make a post that makes any sense! No worries though, all the other hoppers and our sweet leader will have their posts up for you by 10AM EST. ;-)

If you are new to my blog, please, get a cup of tea and look around! I hope you like what you see.
And if you have been a long time follower~~thank you!!  I am so sorry I neglected you last week. :-o I got behind on my blocks and had a lot going on here at home, so something had to give. Unfortunately, it was blogging. :-(   I am going to try to be better at it in the future!

Now for the fun!!

Jacquelynne has put together the sweetest BOM! And we are on the final two blocks, if you chose to do the bonus block.  I have been having so much fun doing hand embroidery stitches on my blocks, and using my vintage sheet collection for the block pieces.
This is block 4~

And this is the second bonus block~

I couldn't resist playing around with my crayons, so here are the centers for the 2 blocks.  I have decided to set these into something different and I'm saving that as a surprise for the end of the hop. :-)

Please be sure to visit Jacquelynne Steves at The Art of Home for more info on the BOM, and also visit my fellow hoppers~  (but NOT until after 10 AM EST please ;-)  I want to be sure you don't miss a thing!)

And one last little thing before you leave me~ YES! there is a giveaway!  :-)
And you can enter on each blog! And international bloggers are invited too since the prize is a pdf  package.
But please, please be sure you are not a 'no reply' blogger, and if you aren't sure, just leave me your email address in your comment, ok?  So tell me, did you make quilting resolutions this year?  I did not.  Of course I want to finish things, and get more organized and all those great goals, but I also don't want to put any limits on myself. LOL   You never know what I will be up to next!!  :-)
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy quilting!!

Giveaway is now closed.

--Finished!

And way ahead of schedule! LOL
The zipper was actually very easy to do. :-) I love when that happens!
But maybe it was because I did the shark zippers. ;-)

I am linking to Show off Saturday @ She Can Sew today.
Happy Saturday!

Playing Around~~

I interrupted my regular sewing for a little bit of play time. :-)
Remember the Shark Pencil Pouches I made?  HERE

Well today I am playing with a Bunny Coin Purse...

The basic tutorial is here at Sew DIY , but as you can see, I did a bit more.
I already know the next part is going to have me pulling out my hair, but we will see how it goes! ;-)
LOL I think my DGD may end up with a menagerie of zippered critters!
(and I will get really good at teeny zipper placements!)

What are you working on today?

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

~Bag of the Month Club~

One of my Christmas gifts was a Bag of the Month Club membership for this year. :-)
Best gift ever!! LOL

The January pattern is by Samantha @ At Home With Mrs H
It is a version of a carpet bag that has a really cool frame in it.
I couldn't wait to make one!

Here is my first one.. ;-)  LOL, Did you catch that?

And the inside~ loads of room for all my 'stuff'.

I loved working with the faux leather and playing around with the size!
I have another started, but needed to order the frame, so have to wait to finish it.
It is going to have red handles!! :-)

What was your favorite quilting/sewing related Christmas gift?

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

~ Waiting & Winners~~

Did you ever hear the phrase 'Good Things Come to Those Who Wait'?
I always thought it was just a way to be put off from whatever I wanted when I was a kid. Like maybe I would forget about it. LOL
BUT~
I was the lucky winner in a sew along we had before the HGTV message boards closed and my prize was from Thearica's shop~ Crazy Quilting Supplies.
She was in the process of updating her shop and changing servers so I told her I could wait.  We decided instead of me trying to shop, she could just surprise me with a few balls of perle cotton. I said 'Easter colors' as I have a little project I want to work on... well
she sure surprised me!!

Look at all the lovely colors! I can't wait to start stitching with them!! :-)

Now I know y'all are waiting to hear who my winner is from the recent Sew Sweet Simplicity blog hop~
 Remember the prize?~

My lucky winner is Lyn!  Congratulations!!
Blogger Lyn said...Thanks so much! I love your blocks. I am gathering everything and will start after the new year! sure looks like fun. Thanks again.

Many of you mentioned that with the busyness of the holidays, you haven't started yet.  Well, save the date! January 10th Jacquelynne is going to have a sew along. I hope you will be free on Saturday because it is going to be fun..and there will be prizes!! :-)
You can read all about it here~

Catching Up Sew Along Day

And just look at the prizes!
I hope to see you Saturday!

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
