More Fruit Ladies...

Just having a lazy, rainy day here~ got another table topper out of my fruit ladies FQ. :-) I have never seen a pattern like this, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist somewhere. I just played with my scraps~~ It's amazing what one FQ can do!! lol I guess next week I'll be quilting! :-)

Have a great weekend~

Think summer???

Remember the fruit ladies FQ I received in November? My Mom challenged me to come up with something using it~ so how about a tablerunner? My plan for it changed a few times and now I have 'Lifesavers'! LOL :-) This should definitely scare away the winter blues! :-) Don't the colors make you think of the candy? :-) I drew the pattern on paper~ at first I was going to continue the border in the corners, but ran out of the red, so plan 'B' was a different red and triangle corners. They are a bit oversized, but better to be too big than too small. ;-) Would you like to wake up to this on your kitchen table? :-) ~better have sunglasses handy! :-))

Until next time~

I'm ba-a-ack!

Thank you for your good thoughts!~ I am finally getting over my cold and feeling like sewing again! Yay!! :-)

Have I told you about my next hgtv block swap? We are going to do 9-patch blocks with florals that have dark backgrounds. ~Last year we did them with light backgrounds and although my top isn't together, it is getting there! ;-) Aren't these florals scrumptious with the jewel tones and yellow or gold centers? And look what happens when they are cut into segments and rearranged!~ I'm thinking about putting a small black border between them,.. maybe... I have a lot of time to plot and plan as the blocks aren't due until May Day. :-) Want to join us? ;-)

So my sewing machine missed me~ and now we have some blocks to make. :-) You know where I'll be!~

Until next time~

Answers...

Thank you all for visiting and commenting! :-)) Unfortunately my 'sewing, sewing, sewing' came to a screeching 'halt, halt, halt'!! :-o as I am battling with a nasty cold, sore throat. :-( No fun at all!

Bonnie~ I answered by email, but I'll mention it here too... my rotating mat is the 12 inch size. I like it~ easy to store and good for trimming up small blocks... :-)

Wendy~ You didn't leave an email for me to answer your question, so I hope you find this. :-) I modified the pattern for the door dresses that I found HERE It was a pretty fun and easy thing to do.

Debs~~ I came visiting your blog hoping to see your Jack's Chain :-)

And Brenda! :-o My quilting abilities could never do justice to those open spaces in the chain!! LOL

Since I'm not sewing, I'll leave y'all with this photo of all my Hen & Chicks blocks ready for swapping~~

Have a happy day and don't get sick~ it is no fun at all! :-(

Sewing, Sewing, Sewing~~

Or maybe that title should be 'Playing, playing, playing!' :-)

I'm having a 'sew' day!! As opposed to a snow day! ;-) It did snow today, but not enough to cause any problems. :-)

I cannot decide what to do with all my mini 9-patches. Today I tried a Jack's Chain block from QuiltersCache~~ oy! that is a lot of set-in seams!! :-o It would be a much better hand-piecing project than a machine project, but I'm not a hand-piecer! ;-) I think I'll look at more patterns... LOL

Next I played with my string blocks. For this round I asked for 30's prints with a red print center. One set the center doesn't stand out very well, but all the rest do. :-) I've not received all of them yet, and my table is already covered! I'm not sure how or what to do with these either. Originally, I was thinking about making things for my red kitchen :-) ...but now I'm not so sure I want to make a table covering or placemats from them! :-o Oh, what to do, what to do... :-)) Kind of a fun dilemma! LOL

Until next time~~

My Mini's Arrived~~

All last year I participated in a swap hosted by Bingo-Bonnie for 3 inch finished 9 patch blocks. The last of the blocks arrived home today! :-) I made way more than I probably needed~ this last group consisted of 50 purple blocks and 30 yellow. In the beginning I made 60 of each color~ they were just too cute to stop! :-) Now I'm thinking, realistically, how many can I use in one quilt?! If I made 9-patch blocks with them I would use 5/block x 12 blocks = 60 mini blocks! Oh my! I have way more than that! LOL I guess I will play in EQ for a while and see what I can come up with! :-)) But aren't they cute?~~ :-))
I think you can click on them for a bit bigger view. ;-)
Until next time~

Oh Happy Day!!

:-)) I finished my string blocks!! Whoohoo! I know you are getting tired hearing about them because I am getting tired doing them! LOL This time I made 80 blocks for 16 participants... and I think I need a rest from them for a bit now. ;-)) Of course, once my blocks start rolling in, I may 'fall in love' all over again. LOL :-) They are easy to do and the different color combo's were fun to put together, but I'm happy to be mailing them off. ;-) See my rotating cutting matt there? It was perfect for trimming up the blocks! :-)

Next up is to finish my red/white blocks and then I'm going to get caught up on a few BOM's. ;-) There is always something to do!! ;-)

While I was looking for some of the string colors, I came across this mini quilt I made a few years ago. It is 6 3/4 inches square. The center part is 4 inches, and has 64 HST's that are 1/2 inch each... what was I thinking??!! :-o LOL It was not paper-pieced! Yikes. :-) I doubt very much I would attempt anything like it now... ;-)

Until next time~

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
