More Thimbleberries Sew Day~

Ok, so I kind of hinted about what I was up to yesterday. :-) I've never made a Log Cabin quilt~ I know! Crazy! I'm probably the only quilter I know who hasn't ever made one! :-o but I love them! ~ so my friend and I decided to make one together 'long distance'. We swapped fat quarters for our quilts last year. :-o  We thought we had a pattern picked out, but then I changed my mind and sent her a link to a new 'the one'. And pretty soon, 'the one' became a bit of a joke between us as we'd discover new patterns and neither of us started. Then I happened to order Spice of Life Quilts by Carrie Nelson. When I ordered it, I didn't even realize there was a Log Cabin pattern in it~ and there are two! I sent my friend an email and told her I finally found 'the one' and wasn't changing my mind again. lol  This is going to be my Thimbleberries Sew Day quilt. I am using some of my Thimbleberries stash along with the FQ's we swapped and any other scraps I cut up. Mine is going to be pretty scrappy. :-)  And notice the Triangulations papers? There are HST's for the center of every log block, I pulled out my Triangulations to make them because I just couldn't see myself sewing squares and trimming them all up~ yup, I'm a little lazy that way. ;-)

**My disclaimer is in the previous post. It also applies to Triangulations and Brenda Henning. **  :-/  I've decided I am not writing disclaimers anymore~ it takes some of the fun out of sharing for me and for Pete's sake, if anyone thinks I'm rubbing shoulders with any designers (I wish!), all they need to do ask!  Seriously! :-)

I hope you are working on a fun little (or big) project today!  I'll be back with a progress cutting photo soon~ :-)
Happy stitchin'!

Well, I have never made one, maybe someday, lol.
I get lost in too much piecing, so I keep mine simple.

you're not the only quilter... I've never made one either but have loved the Log Cabin pattern before I even knew that was what it was called as a child! :) My "Momma Newt" had one on her guest bed upstairs where we use to play and I loved that quilt and how it set the tone of the room. The blocks had a red center and so everyone called that room "The Red Room" :)

Love your pattern with the HST's and the geese! did you know the new Triangulations has geese on it now? I have no idea how they work but if they're anything like her HSTs I know I'd love it! ;)

Happy Cutting & Love from Texas! ~bonnie

My first log cabin (after 20 years of quilting! LOL) is at Quilt Hollow being quilted right now! OH! and it's 99% Thimbleberries fabrics! :-) So you are not at all "behind!" :-D
LOVE Triangulations! I'm with you are piecing HST that way.
I'll be sewing with you today -- working on my Eventide (another Miss Rosie pattern!) at the Cupcakes 'n Daisies quilt-along!
Blessings,
Mary Lou

What a coincidence!! I just received two books in the mail from B&N and one of them was the Spice of Life book - and I got it 'specifically' for that same quilt! Right now I'm working on my Party Mix quilt (from TB's Collection of Classic Quilts) - with all of the original My Best fabrics. I just need to put the borders on ;)

That will be the perfect log cabin and the Thimbleberries fabric is going to be gorgeous for that quilt. Good choice on writing disclaimers and even any more thoughts on all of that. I enjoy your blog, what you make and your wonderful personality!

I went through the same thing with a friend, we wanted to make an ocean waves style quilt and went through 3 or 4 patterns before finding "the one". I think you've found a winner with your pattern. There are some quilters who only make log cabin quilts, there are enough patterns out there to make a career out of it, I think I've made two, and love them both. Good luck and have fun!

I like log cabin quilts too. I'm doing Carrie's Heartland quilt that has a ton of log cabin blocks in it.

I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
