What started out as a weekend away turned into a computer mess and a week away! Yikes! Let me back-pedal and catch up. :-) My weekend away was fantastic! Look at all that 'stuff' to go!~ I knew I wouldn't get to everything, but I had high hopes! :-))
We left on Friday morning and had our sewing machines set up and ready to rock 'n roll by 11 AM. We sewed and sewed on Friday and I got 'sew' much done! A whole bunch of Ocean Wave blocks that I'm swapping with a friend. ;-)
I also took a class to learn fabric discharging, dying, painting, stamping, foiling~ a whole bunch of fun things! My samples aren't that great, but I learned a lot and hope to use some of it in the future. ;-) Ahhh! I'll have to put the other sample in another post~ it won't let me add it here. :-/ The black looks really dark in the photo~ it looks more rust in real life. ;-)

Well, I must've overdid it on Friday because by Saturday evening my shoulder was screaming at me! It wouldn't let me lift my arm to my machine. :-( I'm not sure if I pulled something, or just used a muscle that wasn't used to so much work, but I was pretty worthless as far as sewing went. I did sit in on a few classes and learn all I could. ;-) I wondered if it was the heavier irons they had or just me... if it was just me, I have to say my bod has pretty poor timing! The weekend ended Sunday and I came home with more things to do than I left with ;-)) ~did I tell you they had a fabric shop set up for the weekend? :-o LOL
On Monday I was going to up-load my photo's and I couldn't get the computer on! Hubby couldn't either when he came home, so into the shop it went. Another hard drive. They had it in the shop most of the week trying to figure out the old hard drive, and finally gave in and put in a new one. We've spent the weekend downloading our programs..again. :-/ I think everything is good now... I hope! And my silly shoulder?~ starting feeling better by mid-week and is back to normal this weekend.
Now I need to hop around and see what y'all have been up to! ;-)
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

It is good to see you back online!!! I have spent the afternoon making crumb blks, just 'cause I didn't feel like doing anything else!! Just mindless sewing..... and I wounder how much fun you had shopping at the fabric shop instead of sewing??;-)
I am sorry to hear your comp. has been giving you that hard of a time. But I am glad you are up and 'talking' again!! And it's good you have more things to do!! It will keep you out of trouble. Oh look, it's snowing again outside!! you should have seen the flakes this afternoon!! White and pretty!! Now, it's back to being stiff rain, but really, enough is enough already!!!! It is not staying, but I just am tired of how long this winter is seeming to be. I hope you are having nicer weather, but, now that you have things to do, maybe you don't want it that nice.....! Talk soon!!
I really like the Ocean Wave blocks you are making. And what a good idea to trade with a friend. I would think it would be a bit hard to find someone who got their blocks to the same size as yours. I guess what I like about your blocks is that you used one fabric in the block instead of very scrappy.
Love your Ocean Wave blocks... Something I shall have to put on my "to do" list... 8-)
You fabric "discharging, dying, painting, stamping, foiling" looks great! Fun stuff I am sure! 8-)
Sorry to hear that you had trouble with your shoulder! What a thing to happen on a great weekend away!!! Not fun, but glad it is feeling better now...8-)
Major bummer with the computer too! It is never a good time to loose one's computer... especially with a sore shoulder that keeps you from sewing! 8-(
We have a retreat here this weekend coming... 8-)
wow you sure did take a lot with you - but I bet I brought home MORE ;) on my retreat!
Actually I was very good at Keepsakes shopping trip I only spent 1/4 of what I took to spend. I did bring home a lot of fabric though. Lauren had a whole car trunk full of it giving it away. OH you should have seen the bags and bags of HOMESPUNS she had!! A friend of her's didn't want it anymore!!! Imagine that! I picked up 3 fabrics that were large enough yardage to become backings one of these days.... and although I looked I had to walk away b/c I knew if I started thumbing thru them I'd be coming home with a "TOO HEAVY" suitcase at the airport.
(((note to self - take 2 bags next time not just one big one)))
So sorry to hear about your computer. I hate it for you. Were they able to save any of it? I just got mine back and working again. They saved everything saved under "My Documents" for me and also ALL of my photos and there were tons of those!
After I was at COF I called and asked David if they got all of my emails and Outlook address book so he took my old hard drive back up there and they saved it... but I still haven't been by to get it yet.
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
