A Quilt & A Story~

My Mom made this quilt top for me in late 2007. The blocks are all done in candlewicking. She put floating borders around them (the dark green) and in the first border. I just love the colors!! Last summer I took it home with me and we marked it for hand-quilting. I'd never marked a quilt before so it was quite a learning experience! ;-) I went through a number of those wash-out marking pens! :-o I left it with her and she and her friends quilted it for me. I got it back right before Christmas and just put the last stitches in the binding the other night. Then I hand washed it in the tub to get the markings off~ whew! That is one big quilt to handwash! I did fluff it in the dryer, checking on it often and then spread it on my DD's bed to finish drying. It is all ready for my bed now! I know I'll have the best dreams tonight!!! :-)

This is a photo of the backing fabric and a closer look at the border fabric~ isn't it gorgeous?? You can click the photo for a bit larger view. ;-)

~One more shot of the blocks~ :-))
I know I am one lucky gal! And to be able to share my love of quilting with my Mom is just icing on the cake! ;-)
Until next time~
(I'm working on another binding~ )
Happy Stitchin'!!!

There's that gorgeous candle wicking again. It's on my to-do list. I loaned out my candle wicking threads and never got them back so I'll have to buy more. Beautiful quilt!

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
