Fun Times!

This is The Iris Quilt.
A new pattern by Erica of Kitchen Table Quilting.
This is such a fun pattern! It is jelly roll, fat quarter, or even scrap friendly!
It comes in 3 sizes. I had the pleasure of testing the lap size which used 39 of the 40 strips in my jelly roll.  I purchased the teal and purple bits.

I tried taking photos outside, inside and close up and the fabrics I used are just not real photogenic! :o
My jelly roll was all dots!~ did you know I love dots? LOL
I do!!
Hurry over to Erica's SHOP and get the pattern while it is on sale. I have the quilt in my previous post on the longarm now, but I am on the hunt for backing for this one!

Until next time~

Time!!!

It seems the faster I go, the more behind I get!
Well, maybe not behind, but I do let things slide and this blog certainly fits that description!
I never intended to be gone for three weeks! Where did the time go?
Well, I have been doing so much secret sewing, thats part of it, I just can't show you...yet. Hopefully there will be a few reveals next week.

In the meantime, I do have one for you today. :-)
Jenna of Jenna Leudecke Designs has a new pattern out that I was privileged to test.
This is her second quilt pattern and it is so versatile!
You will love it~
Stella Star Quilt pattern.

This is my version...

The pattern comes with two sizes of star, and five different sizes of quilt!
I chose the one large star lap quilt and had fun playing with 5 fabrics. There is a little bit of paper piecing in the pattern~ those sharp star points, but if you have never paper pieced you will find her directions really easy to follow.
Go get your pattern now while it is on sale and check out all the different versions you can make. ;-)

I'll be back sooner next time!
Until then,
Happy Stitchin'!

New Bags!

Jess @Sallie Tomato
recently collaborated with Holly & Tanager to make patterns of two of their bags.  And I was lucky enough to be chosen to test both! :-)

First, the Commuter~

This wonderfully large tote can hold your laptop or file folders.
The roomy interior has slip pockets on one side, and a zipper pocket on the other.
I made mine in faux leather and textured cork. :)

The second bag is called the Companion Mini.

It is a smaller bag that can used as a crossbody bag with the removable strap, or carried as a small clutch.  It also has inside zipper and slip pockets.
It has a lot of fun feature! I did mine in faux leather and just love the texture!

Be sure to check out the links, both patterns are on sale for a limited time.

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Embroidery~

I love to do machine embroidery, but finding the time is a bit daunting some weeks.
I stay home all.the.time!
But find I am still not embroidering so much.
So I was tickled when my friends decided we could get our small group together for a little retreat sewing and embroidering. We all took our machines and had a blast!
And we embroidered each other gifts too~
I made a variety hand sanitizer holders and everyone got to choose between sock monkeys, gumball machines, owls, or gnomes...

Designs are from either Designs by Little Bee or DejahVue Designs

One of my friends made us all little wall hanging~
I think the design is from Kimberbell

And my over-achieving friend ;-) made us all free standing
lace sewing machines!!!

An OESD design

I have some fun things to show you from our little retreat too, but
need to take more pix. I'll be back soon!

Until then~
Happy Stitchin'!!

Little Reveals~

Awhile back I did a pattern test for Shannon of Just a Simple Stitch on Instagram.
She called this pattern 'Baby Jane'. It could be made as a large quilt or a baby quilt.
I chose the baby quilt as I had my newest DGD in mind. ;-)

I backed it with a plush, dimpled fabric and added a flange binding.
I am happy to report it has been received and is loved. :-)

I've also had my embroidery machine running as fast as I could, making this growth chart for my DGD's first birthday.
This is an Anita Goodesign design that came out in June 2018.
I just love the jungle animals!  I am now working on another with forest animals.
This was really fun to watch come to life!
I think I need a new camera as my photos all seem to come out darker than they did before.
I took these photos on a rather bright day! **you can click on any photo to enlarge it and get a better view ;-)

One more thing that I recently finished were these handy bags~
The pattern is called 'Chippers' and it was written by my friend, Toni.
She doesn't have an Etsy shop, but if you would like the pattern I can help you out as I am her 'marketing manager'. ;-) ;-)
We have taught this pattern at numerous classes and it is always a hit. I took my bags one step further than her pattern when I added the embroidered names behind the clear vinyl window.
The embroidery file is from The Itch 2 Stitch and is called Amorette Sketch.

I am now working on a few more things and hopefully, you will see them soon!
Until next time,
Happy Stitchin'!!

Time...

My goodness time seems to fly for me!
I have not had a problem staying home, have you?
Of course I do miss seeing family & friends, but I would rather they be safe than anything else.

Did you do the sew along Pam Buda @Heartspun quilts hosted? You can still find the directions on her blog- look for Safe Keeping Sew Along. She gave the finishing directions on May 8th and I was sewing along until I got side tracked. ;-) I have had them both finished for over a week, but just kept forgetting to take pix~
the little 4 inch blocks went together so nicely!!

I made two right away~ one for autumn and one more patriotic.
They fit just perfectly on our little entry table.  Her next sew along starts tomorrow, and I love the little table topper she is going to be making.

I have also been making Popcorn Pouches by Amista Baker.
These little pouches are so addictive and I just know the grand kiddoes will find many uses for them.

The pattern comes in 4 sizes and I had a fun time playing with my scraps.
I used the leftover zipper tapes to make little handles. ;-)

I have many more projects I am working on and hope to complete a few by the end of the month~ that is Sunday! Eeek! I had better get busy!!

I hope you are finding time to sew and enjoying the process too.
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

Grace...

Grace..
is a new cross body purse by designer Yanna of BagoVado.
It was my lucky day when I first met Yanna and began pattern testing for her. :-)  She lives on Cyprus, so,of course, we 'met' on line. I have seen pix of her home and the area where she lives and it is gorgeous!  Yanna uses mostly leather and faux leather for her bags,  but cotton and upholstery type fabrics can also be used. She comes up with such fun little details in her bags.  My DD and DDIL both love the bags I make and gift to them. ;-)
Grace is mine! :-)

I used a fabric that my DS brought me when he had to work in Japan for a bit last year.
It is a little heavier than a cotton, but lighter than upholstery fabric.
It has a great texture to its weave.  The accents are a suede/faux leather I had in my stash. And the lining is quilting cotton.  There is a pocket in the lining, but I didn't get it in the photo.

You can find the pattern in Yanna's shop HERE
It is on sale now, but all her patterns are very reasonably priced.
Be sure to check out all the tester photos in her listing. ;-)
Do you like to sew your own bags?

Until next time~
happy stitchin'!!

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
