Birthday Fun!

June is a big birthday month in our family.

And I love making gifts! :-)

I used my Crafter's Edge die cutting machine to personalize these pillowcases.

I added the appliques before sewing them together. It was so easy to cut the appliques with the Crafter's Edge alphabet!

The top one is for my DGD. I made the mistake of sending her older brother a pillowcase with the Disney Coco fabric and, at 3, she can't read and thought it was hers! (In my defense, I had no idea the fabric or movie were such a big deal! I purchased the fabric for him for a Halloween pillowcase. I didn't realize my faux pas until DS called and explained the nightly wars. LOL!)  So she needed her own.  It took me a bit longer to find more fabric, but I did!

I don't have all the alphabet dies so I had to improvise on the 'd' for my DDIL. This is the Gaelic spelling of her name. And I just love it! :-)

Both have now been received and I am so happy to report they were both a big hit. Yay!! :-)

I have been keeping a few more things under wraps and will be back soon to explain!

Until next time~

New Project and a Question~

Hi!

Today I want to share with you my newest Pineapple Fabrics project.

I used a Bella Pineapple Pack and chose 'Farm to Table' by Ann Kelle.

The free pattern I chose was 'Set Your Table~ Placemats & Table Runner'.

I thought the fabric was so cute for this project and would make a perfect picnic set. I wasn't wrong!! ;-)

The extra strips from the pack were used to make the back of the table runner.

I did have to be a little careful as a couple of the fabrics were directional. :o
The placemats had this adorable cherry fabric included for the back.
All the fruit and vegetables have the cutest faces! The garlic is wearing glasses! :-)

Have you ever used this product?  I had not, but found it really easy to use with my Teflon press sheet. It adhered to the fabric great!

The pattern said quilting the table runner and placemats was optional, so my question for you is~ would you add some quilting?  I am kinda on the fence. I love the texture quilting gives to things, but with the busy fabrics, would quilting even show?  I would love to know your thoughts. :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Until next time~

Over A Month!!

Hello!

I cannot believe it has been over a month since I last checked in! BUT~ we took a nearly 4 week trip and to say wifi was scarce would be an understatement. One day I had to go to McDonald's just so I could check email!! :o

Can you guess where we were?

Utah!

We visited most of the National Parks and had a great time! Unfortunately, we both caught colds and had to skip a little touring. But it was all good. We made it home and had time to fully recover before hubby was back to work and I was back behind my machines. :-)

This weekend, I plan to show you what this~

..lovely grouping of fabrics from Pineapple Fabrics turned into... something fun!!

Until then~

Happy stitchin'!!

Meet Rowdy~

I did a fun pattern test for Lesley @berry_birdy for this handsome rooster.

It was a first for me~ attempting to turn Dresden plates into feathers! LOL But it turned out to be fun and I really enjoyed the test group~ we had testers from all over the world! And we each gave our rooters a name. I chose Rowdy, he is Foghorn Leghorn's nephew. ;-)

He is prancing about the farm yard. ;-)

Go check out Lesley's Etsy, the pattern will be on sale for this week only.

Until next time~

One More Denim Jacket

Some days nothing goes according to plan, but there is always a work around!

I wanted to embroider Minnie on the back of my middle DGD's jacket~ I had it almost all embroidered and the power went out. :o Oh no!!

After it came back on and the machine started embroidering again, everything was off! Ugh! At the time, I was stumped as to why that happened but thought I would just have to trash the jacket. Then my friend, M, had a brainstorm!! I made a patch of the design and placed it over the wrecked embroidery. I didn't like how it looked on the inside, so I made a little Minnie panel... and actually, I think I like it better than my original plan! :-)

What do you think?

Since DGD's name begins with an 'M', I had to add a little patch to the front too. ;-)
Have you ever had an 'oh no!!' that had a silver lining?
I am sure glad I could save the jacket.

Until next time~

'Sewing Made Easy'

When Pineapple Fabrics says 'Sewing Made Easy' they really mean it!

Have you had a chance to browse their website?

Are you lucky enough to live near them in NC and did you go to their warehouse sale?

I can only dream!!  :-) I am way to far away to actually go, but I can dream about taking empty suitcases!

Wouldn't that be fun?

Anyway, I am straying here... check out their Bella Pineapple Packs.

Go ahead, I will wait....

Amazing! Right?

This month I received the 'Farm to Table' by Ann Kelle pack--

And I am making a table runner and set of 4 placemats with their 'Set Your Table' pattern.

The fabrics are so fun for summer~~

One thing that I really like is that they cut their own packs.
So when they say 'bonus fat quarters' what they mean is that they are cut larger than regular fat quarters.
In this case I can get 4- 10 inch squares from each FQ with room to trim selvages and edges easily. Sweet!
Another bonus is that once you choose your fabric and pattern the page is interactive~
the page opens up to tell you what additional things you need~ like fusible fleece, backing, even thread!
When it arrives you have everything you need to pack for retreat!
Or you can go to their yardage section, pick a fabric for your back and just add that to your order. You might already have plenty of thread and fleece in your stash. ;-)

I will be back soon to show you my progress,
but in the meantime~

Happy Stitchin'!

April!!!

Oh my goodness how can it be April 11th already?!

Is time flying for you too?

I made some fabric postcards and mailed them off last week. I usually do machine embroidery but when I saw these glitter pens in Hobby Lobby, I had to try them! They were perfect for the fun bunny print.

My DD was down for a visit and we decorated the fabric and then I turned them into postcards after she left. :-)

I wish I had taken pix of the scraps of fabric my DGD colored. I turned those into book marks and sent her one. :-) Fun!

I have also had my embroidery machine running. :-)

I found these jackets for my granddaughters in a re-sale shop and thought it would be fun to decorate them a bit. My Paris-loving DGD got an Eiffel Tower and my youngest DGD got a little pony unicorn. :) I mailed them off this AM. Now I am on the hunt for a little boys jacket to do a Batman design for my DGS.

I also did a Minnie Mouse jacket for my DGD who lives closer to us and will get pix the next time she comes down to visit. ;)

My next Pineapple Fabrics project has arrived and I plan to work on that this week.

What are your plans for the week?

Are you getting snow? So many of my friends are getting snow today~ yikes!

I hope you are safe, warm & enjoying Spring!

Until next time~

Happy stitchin'!

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
