One More!

That is right, one more pattern release happened this week

and I was lucky enough to be a tester. :-)

Stephanie from Paper Moonlight Crafts released

her newest pattern called 'Nesting Baskets'

This is my tester version~

Sorry for the lighting, I finished it at retreat and the lighting at the design wall was a bit shadowed.

The pattern comes in both a lap and bed size.

I made the lap, and if you click on the photo it will (should) open in another window for you to see better.  I had that cute animal print and fussy cut the centers. I love how this one turned out.

It was a quick sew, and a whole lot easier than you would think! :-)

If you have an Instagram account and check @paper_moonlight_crafts, you will see all the test versions. ;)

Until next time~

Another Reveal~

Didn't I say I had a lot of irons in the fire and much would be revealed soon?

Monday was pattern release day for Jenna of Jenna Luedecke Design

and I was lucky enough to test her newest pattern called

Shimmer & Shine Quilt Pattern. It comes in multiple sizes and I tested the pillow size~

 I wanted bed pillows~ aren't they just dreamy? :-)

And just wait until you see some of the tester quilts!
The secondary design is so fun!
And you cannot mess up because it is paper pieced! All those points are easy peasy.
I really enjoyed making these~ it was very relaxing sewing.

You will be able to find the pattern in Jenna's Etsy shop .
Until next time~

Sewing Fun!

 Hi everyone!

I love Valentine's Day and just had to have a bit of fun!

I machine embroidered this design from Designs By JuJu. It is called Vintage Sketch Mason Jars.

Next, I cut the HST's using my Crafter's Edge Crossover 11 machine and the Half Square Triangle Dies.

There are 6 different sizes of dies in the set, so I just cut my embroidered design to fit a die size~ and set to work. If you press your fabrics right sides together before you cut, you are all set to sew as soon as the pieces come through the machine. ;-)

I added a pocket at the bottom for Valentine's because I am in a postcard Valentine swap. ;-)

A little machine quilting and binding and I have a new wall hanging. Yay!

Do you make special things for holiday decorating?

Until next time~

A Few Finishes~

January was a busy month of pattern tests and sewing fun, along with the normal day-to-day stuff. ;-)

We had a family get-together and I got to play with my DGD one weekend.

All the things that make life joyful!

I tested the Adamas Quilt by Emily of Dame and Dane Quilting.~

I found this cool ombre fabric at Hobby Lobby and turtle fabric and just knew I had to use the two for this pattern. I just love how it turned out! The beauty of this pattern is that the blocks are easy rectangles and squares to sew together~ it is how you turn them that makes the design. :-)

I also did a 'small' test for Lesley of BerryBirdy.
The Snow Star Pillow pattern  comes in three sizes~ a pillow, a wall hanging and a cute little mug rug. Can you guess which one I did? :-)

The teeny mug rug!!

It measures 8½" square and was really fun for me to make! I love messing around with teeny pieces!
In hindsight, I should have chosen a solid white for my background to make the snow flake pop a little more. No mug will ever find its way to this mini! It has a place of honor on my sewing room wall. ;-)
I would love to make a set of pillows next. :-)

What fun things have been keeping you busy? Do you like to sew mini's?

I do have more to show soon!
Until next time~

Snow!!

I know, many of you are getting it. Lots of you are tired of it. Some of you want more.

Which category are you?

I actually like it as long as I don't have to drive or go anywhere when it turns to ice~ that is a nightmare!!

And I have already done that this year. :-/

This is my January project for Crafter's Edge and the Crossover ll machine.

I really wish I had just enough snow to take the pic outside! (shhh- DH does NOT want snow!)

I used some of the alphabet dies and the snowflake die. I machine embroidered the 'Let it~' and hand stitched around the snowflake-- it is cut from felt.

I enjoyed this project so much! The hand stitching was perfect for evening sewing. ;)

I have a lot of makes for January, and will be back to show you more soon!

Until next time~

Time~

Did you get all your Christmas projects finished in time?

I got all my gifts finished, but there was one project I wanted to finish 'for me' that didn't quite make it.

My Crafter's Edge project for December was to be a pillow cover. I got it all prepped, but finding the time to quilt it like I wanted was not in the cards.  I used the Whimsical Tree die and had a lot of fun deciding how to position the branches and how many to have on each tree. I machine embroidered the words.

But I wanted a big block of time to do some quilting on it, and it just didn't happen. Maybe it can happen this week. ;-)

What kept me from working on it? Well, at Thanksgiving our youngest son asked if I would make him an afghan that went from his shoulders to over his feet~ he is over 6 feet tall! It seems he sets his heat to go down at night and some nights he is still up working when that happens, so he said he 'needed' an afghan that was long enough. Yes, he has quilts but as he pointed out~ nothing is as snuggly as an afghan. LOL He has a point there. So I purchased the yarn, chose the pattern based on the one of mine he always claims when he is down visiting ;-) and got to work. Over 6 feet is a loooong afghan! But I finished in time! And he was so surprised~ he really did not think he would see it until at least February and he was ok with that. :-)

This week we have cold temps and it is a winter wonderland outdoors~
good time to stay in an sew! ;) ;)
Have a great week!
Until next time`

Happy December!

I can finally start to reveal some of my secret sewing this year,

and this was the biggest one!

I hosted a quilt-along on a small FB group. :-)

We made a mystery quilt~ I designed it in my EQ program and gave the ladies a little block assignment each month. Some months it was 2 blocks, some 4 (but easy ones)

By the third month they all knew it would be a Churn Dash quilt, but they couldn't figure out how all the different size blocks would fit together. :-)

It was soooo much fun!!!

I made 2 quilts. The one above was all scrappy blocks and backgrounds. I still need to add my outside border and it will tie all the colors together. Right now, Christmas sewing is keeping me from it. ;-)

I also made a Christmas version~

In this one I made all my Churn Dash blocks from various greens, and used the same background for all the blocks. I have a border fabric that is Grinch fabric for it.
Both quilts will finish at 84" square. :-)
I can't wait to get them quilted next year!

Right now I am knee deep in Christmas makes and bakes and loving every minute!
I hope you are having a fun December too!

Until next time~

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
