Mug Rugs?

Are you a fan of mug rugs? Use them every day?

I am! And I do!!

I love them! I have them all over the house and love the little pops of color on our end tables, next to my machine, computer etc. :-)

I recently took part in a FB mug rug swap and couldn't be more pleased with what my partner sent to me!

She made the mug rug double sided!

A beautiful paper pieced butterfly on one side, and applique flowers on the other. She also included a little tea mat with a pocket for your tea bag. That is so easy to take along when out. :-)

This morning I mailed off two mug rugs to my partner. I played with my embroidery machine yesterday. :-)

The bunny is a free design from Kreative Kiwi. It comes in multiple sizes.

The sunshine is from a Kimberbell set (volume 3) .

I think they both sing 'spring' and I hope my partner enjoys them.

We had a little snow this AM, but it has already melted.

If you are getting the major snow that is moving across the country, be safe.

Until next time~

New Quilt top

Have the first two months of this year flown for you like they have for me?

Some days it is 6PM and the day has just sped by so fast I am spinning!

I recently finished this pattern test for Bea of @beaquilter

'Honor A Veteran' is a scrap friendly quilt that can be cut with your rotary cutter or an Accuquilt GO die set.  I was a really good girl last year because I received a GO! and the 8 inch die set for Christmas. This was the first full quilt I cut with it and I am very happy with the results. I had intended to make a medium  size lap quilt, but got so busy cutting scraps I ended up with the largest size. LOL  It measures 57" x 79".

I am sorry my photo is a little dark. I took it when I was at the retreat with my friends and although the lighting seemed bright~ it was under florescent  lights, so it looks a bit yellowed. I used all the red, blue and light scraps in my stash and it still looks like I have plenty of light scraps left for another quilt! Are scraps related to rabbits?

Hop over to Bea's website and get the pattern while it is on sale. ;)

Until next time~

Time Flies!

 Good morning!

Time seems to have gotten away from me again. How can it be that I stay home all. the. time., and yet am so busy?  Projects, pattern tests, cooking, and the dreaded laundry fill my days. ;-)

I promised you a photo of my DGD's stove/oven last time.  I didn't have a pattern. I measured our dining room chair and went from there. The little oven door opens with hook & loop tape and we put a little step stool under the chair for her oven rack. She spent a lot of time cooking for us. :-) The mixer and images on the back of it are all machine embroidered. It ties with bias tape to the chair at the sides.  It was a fun sew and I love watching her play!

I did get together with a couple friends for a sew-in the end of January. We all made this Tidy Tote pattern.
The pattern was for either a large or small tote. They both hold the same size plastic drawer unit, one is just taller than the other. I made the large (far right) and I can zip a project basket in it very easily. :) I am going to love using this! I just need to add some buttons so the flap can fold up a bit higher, making the mesh pockets easier to reach.

I have much more to show you, but it will have to wait for another day.
Until then,
Happy stitchin'!

Hi!!!

Wow!

I can't believe I haven't blogged since November!!  But I have been sewing!~ lots!

And now that Christmas gifts have all been opened and in use, I can show you some of what I have been up to~~ :)

I made planner covers and Christmas planners for some of my friends. A composition book fits in them nicely. This isn't all I made, I sent some off and didn't take pix! :-o

The silvery swan fabric does not photograph well.

They have 2 ribbon bookmarks and an elastic that goes around and holds them closed. I found some cute Christmas pens for some of them. :-)

And I made hotpads~
I did start out with a free pattern I found online (can't remember where, but if you really want to know I can look it up ;-) ) They were way too big to properly hold onto things, so I cut it down a good inch+ and they work much better. I did put both Insul-brite and cotton batting in them.
I seem to be missing a photo of a set of chicks I did too.

My gnome loving friend received a mug rug, ornament and hand towel~

The mug rug and ornament are from Kimberbell Designs I think the embroidery design for the towel came from Embroidery Library.

I did another towel as a little spin off of the 12 Days of Christmas. This was 9 ladies Dancing. LOL I thought 2 was plenty. ;-)

Finally, I made my DGD a chair cover that is a little stove top and oven. I don't have a pic of that today, but will find some for next time.
Did you make any gifts last year?  I am hoping to be even more productive this year. I purchased a planner today in hopes of keeping myself better organized. ;-)

Until next time~

A New E-Book

How can it be a month since my last post?

Time sure has a way of flying!!

Today I want to share a new e-book with you written by Daywalker Customs

(You can read all about it from the link above.)

This new e-book is concisely written and takes you through everything needed to begin a successful bag making journey.   I discovered that I use almost everything she discusses and there is one thing I need to purchase to make my bag making even easier! LOL

Hop on over to the Daywalker Customs blog and check out Sandy's e-book!  If you want to start bagmaking in 2021, this is a great place to start. ;-)

Until next time~

The Judy Quilt

The newest quilt pattern from Erica @kitchentablequilting

is called The Judy Quilt.

It is FQ friendly and also a great pattern to show off some of those larger prints we always purchase because we love, and then don't want to cut into them!~ I'm not the only one who does this, right?  Please tell me I am not alone! LOL

I had some odds 'n ends FQ's that kind of matched but maybe weren't meant to go together, but they worked!  I was going for a spring feeling and I think I captured it. :-)

There are little birds in some of the prints, and flowers and even a plaid!
I used the same dark blue because it has a vine in it, but the bright greens were all different FQ's.
I will get this quilted as soon as i can and it is going to be a couch quilt.... you know, a good book, a quilt and the couch. ;-)

I have a few more things to show later.
Until then~

A Little Fun~

Well, let's face it, most sewing is fun unless it is mending. Right? :-)

I did a fun little pattern test for Elena of Life and Peace Quilt Co

You can find her on Facebook too.

Anyway one of her newest patterns is called the 'Black Tie Affair' quilt.

I chose to make the pillow size as my time short~

I tried to pick more 'manly' fabrics and quilting as I plan to gift it to my DS2. ;-)

Did you notice it is on freshly cut stumps? Ugh. The wind ripped one of our hemlocks down a little over a week ago and last week we had the tree guys here all week.  He did cut the stumps much shorter after my photo shoot. ;-)

I also participated in a postcard swap for Halloween. I haven't received all the cards yet, so I can't show you that pic today. But here are the cards I sent out~

I had a lot of fun machine embroidering these with glow in the dark thread. :-)
I didn't tell the ladies I used that thread. LOL

That's all for today!
I hope you are keeping Covid safe and happily sewing too!

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
