Making Mini's~

Y'all know I've been making mini 9-patch blocks all year and swapping them with other quilters through Bingo~Bonnie. This round is for green mini 9-patches. :-) Mine are finished and trimmed! Tomorrow they will go to the PO. That sure doesn't look like over 60 little 9-patch blocks, does it?

A Give-Away~

Check this out! :-) Jane's Fabrics and Quilts is celebrating her birthday with a great give-away. I just love 30's fabrics! :-) Thanks to Myra I am entered for a chance to win. :-) Now if you don't want to dilute our chances, that's ok!, but stop by and read her blog. Lots of neat ideas there! :-))

A Rail Fence quilt...

I participated in a swap of Rail Fence blocks in Christmas prints in 2006. I got the top together but never had it quilted. It was the perfect top to do more practicing with on the LQS's HQ-16! :-) I did freehand loops and stars all over it and I just love it! :-)) I purchased an extra wide backing fabric for it, so no seams in the back to worry about. It quilted up really fast! Much faster than the pantograph did on the blue/tan quilt below! LOL Of course, it is a little smaller top too. It will fit my DS's twin bed perfectly this holiday season. :-) It will probably take me until then to get the binding on! LOL :-) You can click on the photo's to make them larger. ;-)

Today I worked on some more of the Christmas blocks for this year's swap. It is a fun, fast block and I'm really excited for this swap to be finished. Hopefully next year I'll have 2 Christmas quilts for our beds. :)) Whoohoo!

Until next time~ happy stitchin'!

Quilting! :-)

Honeyberries is quilted! :-)) Whoohoo!

It was a lot of work! And I now have a greater respect for those quilters who follow panto's all the time. :/ It is hard to 'follow the lines'! Esp if you want to look up or around occasionally! LOL So I have a few boo-boo's, but none I feel I need to rip out. After all, I chose this one to learn panto's on because it is so busy~ hard to see the quilting. ;-) And I did learn a lot. And had a lot of fun! :-))

Now for binding~ This is 80 x 80 inches, and did I mention that putting on bindings is not my favorite thing to do? LOL ;-))

I managed to get 4 things quilted during my days at the shop. But I can't show you 2 of them... yet. ;-) In a few weeks though, if I remember, I will.

So here is Honeyberries, front, back and close up. You can click the photo's to enlarge them. The pattern is by Evelyn Sloppy, from the book 40 Fabulous Quick Cut Quilts. I used a pantograph called 'popcorn (small)' by Jodi Beamish from Willow Leaf Studio. It is quilted fairly densely, and I used a low loft poly batting because I like a little 'puff'. ;-)

Happy quilting!~

A Little Play Time...

Just about all of my swappers have received their floral blocks back and are busily playing with them. I was feeling the need to play too!! :-)) So I cut a few blocks horizontally and vertically and played with arranging them on the floor. I like this arrangement, so this will be my plan. I still have more to cut up before I can truly 'arrange them', but this gives me an idea of what to do. Sadly, I won't be able to sew them together, or even think about it, for a few more days because I'm going back to my LQS to rent the HQ again. :-)

Hmmm~ why is my photo flipped on its side? I didn't do it! I think blogger must be playing tricks on me...

Ah well, have a great weekend!

I plan to...

Goin' Quiltin'!!! :-)

You Knew There Would Be Another Swap!..

...didn't you?? :-) LOL

I have been thinking about Christmas, and wanted to do a scrappy-type Christmas quilt. This is a traditional pattern, a 9 inch block, and it is called 'Squares Within Squares'. I wanted to use some 2.5 inch strips I had, so I made it an 8 inch block. These are my samples for the swap. I really like how all the Christmas fabrics look together and I guess my DS does too as he asked~ 'is this quilt for me?' LOL :-)

The other thing I am working on this week is getting some backings pieced, pressed etc. I am planning a trip back to the HQ's to do a couple more tops! :-) Whoohoo!! Wish me luck! Hopefully I'll have some photo's next week. ;-)

Until then, happy sewing!

My Latest String Blocks...

As soon as I finished the blue/yellow string block quilt that y'all saw in July, I joined the next swap. :-) This time my color choice was autumn shades with black centers. Although this isn't a very good photo, you can see the blocks I have received so far. Since each participant gets to choose the colors they would like their blocks to be, I have been searching my stash for some of the choices! They range from citrus ( bright yellow, green and orange) to pastels, to black and whites. The blocks are so easy to make! They are great for those times when you'd just like to do a little 'mindless sewing'. :-) I have 3 more sets to make for others before I can concentrate on mine. I'm planning to make more so I can make a throw quilt for over the couch during the cooler autumn temps.... might be perfect for snagging a nap every once in a while. ;-)
Here's hoping you are snagging some time to sew this weekend too!~
Happy Stitchin'!

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
