'When Pigs Fly' Hop~

 Hello! And welcome!

And happy first day of Summer!

Will it be a hot day for you?  Not so much here, but the temps are just where I love them~ 70ºF

I knew I had some projects I needed to finish, but the one that caught my eye was this little bundle~

I stopped working on it last year ~I don't know why!~ but knew I wanted it this year. :-)

All I had left to do was layer, quilt and bind.

And now it is finished and hanging! The tumblers were cut with a 4" Accuquilt Die and the stars were cut with a Crafter's Edge Star Die. :-) I love it when all my little gadgets play together! LOL

I quilted wavy lines and bound it by bringing the back to the front. Do you have trouble making a binding like that? One corner always turns out wonky?

Then I suggest this Handy Ruler~

Quick-Easy Mitered Binding Tool

It works exactly like it is marketed to work, your miters are sewn closed with your sewing machine, and you can finish the binding with your sewing machine! I love it for placemats and tables runners and things that get a lot of washings.

(No, I am not a sponsor of the gadget or get any kind of promo points. I just love sharing when I find things that work!)

Be sure to check out the rest of today's bloggers~

That is such a neat flag quilt - and just in time for the 4th! Thank you for making one the correct way. I made one that hung that way and my SIL thought I made it backwards - lol! Thank you for the ruler tip.

What a great finish and so timely. I might just make one for the 4th of July! I've never seen that binding tool, but now I need to find one myself. Corners drive me crazy some times!

Love your finish, Sandie! I too like it when all those gadgets work together to help us with a project! Thanks for sharing the miter tool--might have to get it.

Your UFO is wonderful and I'm so glad you have it to use this year. I have a 'flag' table runner and absolutely love it for the 4th.

What a cool project! I envy your 70F. We're at 100F in Houston, with more of the same through next week, and it is June, so this will continue through August at least.

This quilt just steals my heart, Sandie. Well done!!! 70 degrees. Wow!!! How nice. The temps have dropped here due to the rain but we will be back in the 90's soon. Have a great week.

Our temps have been in the 60s- 70's and cooler nights - love it! You chose the perfect project to finish and have out to enjoy right now.

I love this flag and am so glad you got it finished and hanging. I made one like it a couple of years ago and it hangs on my front door. I think this is its last year as it has faded quite a bit. Looking at your finish all bright and crisp is the incentive I need to make another.

Well done on the finish! It's very effective with the tumbler blocks.

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
