Christmas Gifts~

My hubby is a gadget guy, I know this, but he still managed to surprise me! :-)
He had asked me a long while back if I had ever heard anything about these rippers. Just casual like, and I had told him no.  Apparently, he did some research. LOL
And I have got to say~ this is the best invention since..
well, since....
hmmm...
rotary cutters?

I was unconvinced until I had to rip a row off of a current quilt proect.
Oh my gosh! It went so fast! And did not leave a ton of
little threads like I thought it would~ the back thread was one long piece! :-)
For big jobs, or small stitches, this is the way to go!

And I need some help~
I was also gifted these two wonderful jelly rolls.

What is your favorite jelly roll pattern? I have already made a 1600 quilt, so I'm looking for something a little different.  I have some tea dyed-looking  Kona that would go with the
either bundle~ I just have no ideas!
Help? Please?

Until next time~
Happy stitchin'!

That seam ripper looks like hair clippers I used for my son's hair ;-D
I'll have to check it out because I've been ripping an awful lot of seams lately.
As for jellyroll patterns, I really don't know. I rarely used patterns, which I should start this year for sewing fun stuff so I don't have to figure anything out.

I hate seam ripping, wish my husband could think like that, lol. I have not made anything but strips with a jelly roll, but I do like the idea of using them in nine patch designs since they are the perfect width.

Those shears sound interesting.

Check out Moda Bake Shop for strip patterns. I've done several with them and loved each quilt.

A hubby that gets you a quilting too, he is a keeper. I do not use jelly rolls except for smashing so I am no help. Sorry. How are going to the library and looking for some books that use jelly rolls.

I saw someone using one of those rippers when I was in the USA and it looked great. They haven't made it to the UK yet though sadly.

Kim Brackett has a great series of books for jelly rolls. I love working with 2.5" strips and whatever I'm currently working on seems to be my favorite!

Do those clippers work on removing embroidery as well? I've heard about them, but never seen them. As for jelly roll patterns, I can't recommend just one. There are so many books out there specifically for jelly rolls or you could see if you could find one you like in a magazine. Someone else recommended Moda Bake Shop and it's nice that you can search their patterns by pre-cut. I love the Snowman Gatherings jelly roll!

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
