Monday~Monday

My design wall is bare, I just finished this one up and will be taking it to quilt later in the week. It is the second project from the Fig Tree club this year. Yep, I'm behind, but that's ok because I have been enjoying the sewing time! :-)  To see lots of inspiration and lovely works, visit Judy L's Patchwork Times.

On another note~ have you ever seen one of these? My friend sent it to me~ it is a house blessing box.  She explained that it is a German tradition and inside there is a small piece of bread, a little bag of salt, a coin and a religious medal because according to the German saying all man needs to live is God's blessing (the medal), bread, salt and a bit of money.  My friend doesn't blog, but if she did you would see she is a master cross stitcher and hand quilter. I am indeed blessed.

Until next time~
Happy stitchin'!

I love the colours in your table runner. It's a bit hard to see on my computer, but is it Bliss??

The blessing box is a fascinating idea.

What a lovely gift. When my mom bought her house there was a blessing of some type attached near the front door. It was some sort of Jewish blessing, but I can't remember what it was called. The gal who sold the house came back later to collect it as she had forgotten to take it with her.

really like the fig tree top, never heard of the blessing box but it's a lovely gift. It reminds me of one of my husband's family customs of exchanging a piece of bread and a coin (usually a nickel or dime) in a baggie on New years day. You're suppose to keep it in your freezer so all that year you'll have enough food and money.

Thanks for this post. I love the quilt and I found the German house blessing box to be very interesting. I'll have to do some more research on this one.

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
