I have been meaning to show y'all my thimble collection. I didn't always collect thimbles~ my friend Lindsay hosted a swap and well, the rest is history! :-) I swapped the WA thimble in her swap. I thought that a state thimble would be easy to find~ boy was I wrong! I ended up ordering them from Illinois!! :-o One of the swappers really got creative and made the angel from a metal thimble. I don't think the little plastic thimble was part of the swap, I think I had that one.

Then my friend from Australia sent me this set. (sorry it is over exposed) All the thimbles have flowers from Australia on them. At Christmas last year she sent me the other two in the cute little red purse. :-)
When DH was returning this spring from deployment, their plane had a layover in Ireland and he bought these for me. :-)) I'm half Irish ~not the lucky half, the blarney half LOL :-))
I'm really looking forward to figuring out a way to display these in my new quilt studio. Any ideas? If my Dad read my blog, I'd hint to him to make me a little cabinet, but he doesn't. Rats! LOL :-)) (blarney half, remember?) :-))
We finished painting the living room and dining room at the house and today we worked in the cottage. We are making progress!
Until next time~Have a happy week!!

well ... I love your thimbles ... and I think it must be time for another thimble swap! I'd love one from Ireland :) I see you hid those from your buddy with sticky fingers :)
I have a thimble case that Steve bought me a couple Christmas' ago ... LOVE IT! I proudly display my beautiful thimbles in that ... I'll see if I can dig up a pic :)

Perhaps you should persuade your Dad to start reading your blog?
Great thimble collection and the painting is really looking fabulous.
Oh, but I like "Blarney" so much..LOL
Looks like work is well underway.
What a cute collection!
The place is looking fresh and wonderful!
Love the thimbles... At least they don't take up much space.
I collect frogs. I have them all over the house.
Hey there! Those are cute thimbles. Ordering a WA thimble from IL? Love the ones from Oz and Ireland!
Painting coming along, I see... looks good!
...Karen
I collect Depression glass jugs...all different sizes and Tim Burton related bits and pieces. Your thimbles are lovely.
Thats a lot of thimbles! Collect? Quilts, fabric of course and dishes... I have many sets of china..., nothing fancy, ibfind a plate in dome antique store with a pattern I like then for the next 5 years or so I collect until I have a set...
I've run out of storage though... My cabinets are full... :-)
I love your thimbles. I don't really collect anything else other that fabric. I use to collect apple decorations for my kitchen, but I don't do that anymore. I still love them though.
What a good idea to collect thimbles. They don't take up too much room... unlike my collection of books that somehow seems to take over our humble abode! YIKES!
I have my thimbles in an old wood printers tray and it hangs on the wall.
I collect thimbles and have been since about 1997. After filling my first thimble case, my son and DIL bought a second case for me and it is close to being filled, and they hang in my quilting room. As a bank teller, I used to ask my customers to bring them back from their vacations. I even asked my SIL's friend to bring one back from Hawaii when he went on his honeymoon. My kids laughed at this, but guess what?? He remembered. I love looking at all my thimbles and remembering the people who gave them to me.
What a lovely thimbles collection!
Wow you have a great thimble collection. I have one from Israel and that is it...not a collection at all. LOL
